I like the young ladies' attire. Most, if not all prior to 40 don't own a dark, modest dress. We get the cocktail dress and the FM shoes.

At a minimum.... slacks, button down shirt, and a tie or a coat. In the winter I'll wear a suit. In the summer I usually go open collar dress shirt with a sports coat, especially if I am going to the cemetary. I'm fat and it's hot outside.

But it's a sign of the times. I went to a funeral in Mississippi for my wife's grandmother (no pics of either) and 0 out of 6 pallbearers were wearing a suit. However, a lot of the family was.

Maybe that's all they had

At least your cousins didn't get stoned at their dads funeral, inside the car that my mom gave them.

Or my other cousin that almost collapsed while all us male grandchildren were pallbearers for my grandpa

It is, and it is rather strange. In the past, things seemed much more democratic (but not in a bad way), in that even people of limited means took pride in dressing nicer (e.g., a suit for men). Now, it seems as if that same group takes pride in dressing as slovenly as possible in some sort of feigned insult to people of more substantial means.

For my dad's funeral (during the end of deer season) many of the guys from the hunting camp still had on their camo.

My dad wouldn't have had it any other way.

It's all on what you think the deceased would want

Possible.

In the example I stated, most of the pallbearers were grandsons, almost all of which have plant/oilfield jobs.

I'm sure they could afford a $200 suit from Suitmax.

K&G would have been an even better option for oilfield baws...

I came to a total change of mind when I worked in Houston and the husband of a co-worker died suddenly. At the funeral I was shocked that none of his seven children (five sons) were wearing suits.

Then I became ashamed of myself for putting what they were wearing ahead of the tragedy of losing their Father, suddenly and none of them through high school. Since then attitude and reverence matter.

Depends on where it's at. Went to one a few years ago in a small town in Mississippi. I was in a suit, but the locals all wore their finest wranglers and shite kickers

Yeah

They showed up for my dads ceremony which was after the funeral and didn't smell any drugs on them. But you could tell how severe their drug abuse was by looking at them.

Haven't seen such dress in BR at 2 funerals I attended this year.
I'd wear a suit or jacket, slacks and dress shirt.

Depends. Look at the attire for Gregg Allman's funeral. Would normally say trash, but appropriate given who he was.

If an old rancher who never had a suit himself dies, I don't think it's disrespectful to wear the best of what you have to the funeral.

Funerals are for the living anyways. It's a sign of respect to the family left on earth.
