When I was in New Orleans, I always wished I lived closer to a Frys. But now that I'm in Houston, I find myself going to Microcenter over Frys. Only have been to a Frys twice in 3 years.

Is this really a breaking scoop if their stores have had literally no product on the shelves the last few weeks?

Wasn’t too long ago when everyone was predicting Best Buy would go out of business and yet they’re still around and seem to be doing well.

I've never been to, or remember ever seeing or hearing about this place.

I’ve never heard of Fry’s, and I’m a ham radio operator always looking for cheap deals on electronics.

Think if NewEgg was a brick-and-mortar store.

eta: Great place if you needed something and one was nearby. One time I was in DFW and needed to grab a dongle to connect my laptop to an old projector for a conference I did a presentation on. Another time in LA when I needed a C14 to NEMA-15 power adaptor. The last time I was in Houston a couple years ago or so even then they didn't have much at the one I visited.

Extremely depressing. I still remember when the one in Arlington, TX was hopping back in the early 2000s. A lot of times the parking lot would be completely full. The place was inside with 40 open checkout lanes and even then there would still be a line. Employees everywhere as if they hired the entire population of Arlington between the ages of 18-24.

I went in a couple years ago and it looked like the pictures. It was very depressing and sad. Online retailers destroyed them.

Sad. When I was young I always wished we had one here in NOLA.

There's one near where I live. It was always the most convenient of the large electronic stores for me to use, though I rarely ever did. Too bad they didn't try any big sales since they were going out of business. I probably would have picked up a TV.

Did they ever match prices? I figure that's the only thing keeping Best Buy open as they at least match many online retailers.
