Models have been trying to spin up a WCAB/Western Gulf system for about 3 weeks now, this looks like the last chance for that to happen. This is a pretty common pathway for storm development once we get late in the season. Typically, these systems stay sheared and struggle to develop, an exception would be Hurricane Michael from last year.

You should really start a thread on the Rant and MSB asking for the best place to watch the LSU game there as well. It's Punta Cana after all.

I live in Lafourche Parish, so I hate hurricanes, but I get excited when rds starts a thread. I’m so conflicted.

I don't like hurricanes under any circumstances but the prospect is a lot scarier when you are wondering if you can potentially be without power for two weeks in the middle of August.

Michael is a relatively notable exception.
