Develops it off the coast of Louisiana. This thing is going to run into a lot of shear the closer to land it gets. Right now it has lots of shear all the way to Florida and it won't be hanging around long either it's moving fast.
So just some rain and higher tides than normal for coastal Louisiana and Mississippi?

Higher tides for sure, precip depends on path.
It's probably going to be subtropical and put most of the rain to the east side of the center.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it to decide if I need to go move the boats before leaving town Friday

Really not much to see here but it will eventually bring a quick hitter of rain to portions of Florida. In fact, the Nor'easter this evening in the NE is more impressive.

Always enjoy your threads, I just hope this is the last one for the year! We don’t need a Hurricane Juan type storm this year.

Going to be a hell of a stormy night up around Cape Ann and up the coast of Maine.

I hope S's staff has secured the croquet court.

During the summer we typically look for disturbances in the mid-level flow up towards Canada, as these can break down the summer ridges and allow systems to turn north. Now that we are into October we see a 500mb low coming out of Texas and 96L will basically merge with this feature over the next couple of days. The mid & upper level flow associated with the system coming out of Texas will keep most of the weather on the eastern side of 96L.

Nothing draws a storm to a Gulf landfall quite like me planning a Florida beach trip. This is a trifecta. Nate, Michael and this one.

Is it sticky time?
I had to look pretty far down to find this.

Any idea of the Gulf water temperatures and any shear?
Posted on 10/17/19 at 10:55 am to biggsc
Plenty of shear.
Really it's going to get caught up in a shortwave coming off Texas and be a hybrid tropical/non tropical low. Going to put the weather offset to the east.
Could still throw out some pretty solid winds.
