I just looked up the Next Generation Action Network to see what they are about. Oof, there’s a ton of misinformation and honestly racism on there. The “no justice no peace” protest sign on the front page was a nice touch.

This is exactly why the family immediately pushed the racism/self defense narrative. They knew a bunch of dumb liberals would take it and run with it, netting them the $.

Well that, maybe, but also probably trying to save their son

Yes, that always works. Especially when you are blatantly lying.

Maybe they should have tried this much before their son murdered another kid.

Attorneys dropped him apparently shortly after seeing video.

I can see some friction if he has been lying to them and will not listen to their advice after seeing any kind of video not favorable to an already weak self-defense claim, but this also seems like they were only in it to play race card, get their faces and names in the news, and with Cole try to build or at least threaten lawsuits to coerce cheaper settlements than going to court. He still needed and needs a defense, so I hope this change was solely coming from the family and Anthony not the attorneys cutting ties when case becomes less favorable for them.

No one seems to mention the first attorney (white male who reports said had been involved in defending a high profile case) who went to see him the Friday or Saturday after the murder, and in an interview with some reporter afterwards said he client told him it was self defense and his client has not given him any reason to not believe him as of that moment. I thought that sounded a little to honest for an attorney in this situation, and by the next week he was erased for the Clark and Cole. I can’t remember his name and keep waiting for it to be mentioned again.

I didn’t know his attorneys had dropped him until just now. He’s cooked.

I am guessing the video completely contradicts Carmelo’s story and the race grievance angle will die as soon as the media circulates it

Both Plano Presby (now THP) and Medical City are considered top trauma hospitals in the area, yes.

Yes medical city is a trauma hospital but avoid that place like the plague. It’s corporate healthcare at its worst.

They came in when the race card and self-defense card was beginning to get push a lot. When they thought self-defense was a possible option I am sure if they won using self-defense their next planned step was threatening lawsuits against $ sources treating Anthony differently than they would have a white teenager claiming self-defense. It doesn’t have to be a reasonable claim when the race card gets played.

I was also basing that on the male attorney being known for criminal defense in a case or cases where race was used and the female attorney from a different law firm being known for getting a settlement for a black female teenager who had to be forcibly removed by McKinney cops for having an unapproved party on HOA property for non-residents (besides herself). Even though breaking rules she became the victim due to being black and the cops white Maybe the female attorney also does criminal law, but it seemed like she was brought in for non-criminal defense aspects.

Those types do it for the cameras.

Unrelated case but my wife watched one of those true crime shows about a case out of BR involving the death of Lyntell Washington.

2 of these types take the case and make the rounds on the BR media circuit.

LINK

quote:

The attorneys for a man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend slammed the police investigation into the matter in an exclusive interview with WBRZ Tuesday.

"They don't have a case," one attorney told News 2's Brett Buffington.

The two New Orleans-area attorneys are working to defend now-former Assistant Principal Robert Marks who Baton Rouge Police say killed his mistress, Lyntell Washington, and their unborn child.

Marks was arrested more than a week ago, accused of abandoning Lyntell Washington's toddler in a parking lot in Baton Rouge near Washington's blood-soaked car.

According to documents obtained by The Investigative Unit, that 3-year-old told police Marks tried to clean that blood up. Marks' arrest report says the little girl also told investigators her mother was "in the lake".

"Based on their child witness who them to go to a water body, the body was recovered on land," one of the attorneys says. "They've assisted us in discrediting their own child witness."

Lionel "Lon' Burns and Jerry Settle say in-depth details about the case don't add up. According to the affidavit, police say Washington's body was found precisely where the woman's cell phone led investigators.

I ran their names after watching, b/c they looked so stupid on TV. Read the appeals case after the conviction.

The attorney:

1. Requested a continuance on the date of trial because his home office was affected by Hurricane Ida months prior and told the court he was not prepared.

2. Filed no motions during the entire case until the date of trial.

3. Made no objections to clearly objectionable testimony.

4. Barely cross-examined any witnesses.

5. Did not consult or secure an expert in a case involving DNA and cell phone tracking technology.

6. Gave no closing statement

Burns is currently suspended.

So yeah those guys aren't always the best or having their client's best interests at heart. At least these got out before it got too tough.

Eh, lots of times at events like this, there are students that work in AV for the school news channel, year book or school social media account filming. Not that difficult to imagine someone just turned the camera when an argument started -- and that doesn't even count the amount of kids filming for a quick Tik Tok or Insta post from the meet.
Plus friends and family there videoing their child or sibling or boyfriend or girlfriend. Easy to believe someone was doing that and hearing the altercation moved their phone to catch them. If true, it would be devastating for the defense for it to get out before the trial, and it might be enough on its own to warrant a plea deal to avoid a possible death sentence.

The difference is that this is Texas.

Folks here are able to see past all the bullshite and look at things from an objective standpoint.

Bullied or not, you don't bring a weapon to a school event, provoke and murder someone, and then get away with it.

It just ain't happening. I know my community

Yeah, tell that to Daniel Perry. Fortunately Abbot pardoned him, but only after he sat in a cell for a year.

Well, you said "This is Texas." So...same state.

Also Perry's case was in another big metropolitan county (similar to this case), Travis, that tends to have liberal DA's and judges.

ETA - well, I take it back. Frisco is in a more rural county. But my point still stands. Rural / suburban Texas isn't that much different than the rest of the country, which mostly lean red.

Our county is quite different than both Dallas and Travis counties in that regard, brother.
