Not always true but in general most people are selfish and run in the face of others going through something. Hope everything goes well for you.

My brother is going through some bad stuff right now. I sent him a text saying I would not insert myself into the situation unless asked. If asked I will do whatever I can to help. Nothing worse than someone trying come in and play hero.

I think empathy is hard for a lot of people because most of us forget how badly things hurt when it’s not happening to us. I can’t fault people for it because we all do it.. but it does suck.
Look at people who are widowed. They get calls and cards and so much food at first. But 2-3 months in, they’re back in the empty house hardly hearing from anyone. It’s easy to get angry at their loved ones, but life goes on for all of them. They still have work, the kids still have school, etc.
