Burnout is real when you’re a full time caregiver, especially when caring for the elderly. It’s heartbreaking, overwhelming and frustrating at the same time. Have you looked into sitters - just for the sake of giving yourself a break for a few hours here and there? I understand how hard it is to trust people with your loved ones. I also know the difficulty of taking care of the elderly as I have worked in a nursing home

I already know how it will go. My brother will up by the casket talking a big game and taking the pats on the back while I am away from all of that in the other room.

Sorry bro.

We're kind of Ina. Different side. We tried to help my father in law. We're the only honest people around him. They all convinced him to kick us out of their life.

It's all money. I won't be surprised to find out the wife was cut out of everything.

They can't wait to put him into a home. It's sad. I know you are dealing with your brother being an absent dick. It could go the other way and you don't get to see your dad at all and the whole family turns you out.

Good luck

Brother, I am with you here. My Mom and Dad went through two floods in 2016. My brother lives out of town and makes bank. Never called and asked if they needed help or anything. My Mom got Cancer in 2018. Called my brother to ask him for money for a care package for my Mom. He acted like I was asking him to take out a second mortgage on his home. I told him to forget it and to gfh. Hard to believe we had the same parents and upbringing. All you can do is all you can do my friend.

I'm more apt to not say anything to fam or friends, that's just me.

its not up to your family and friends to guide you thru a rough patch, it is up to you homie. if you cant do it yourself, nobodyelse can do it for you.

So it's better for friends and family to bail on you in a time of need?

Should have expected that kind of logic from the OT. My bad.

Have you been upfront with your brother? Don’t give him the satisfaction of acting like he is doing something

Burnout is accurate but that isn’t a option right now.

Paul Allen is just full of shite. Accept it and just leave him alone. Otherwise you'll be forever replying to his posts.

I thought I had a big group of true friends before rehab and only 2 of them asked me how I was doing when I got out 30 days later. I wasn’t expecting a parade but it was humbling how many “friends” are just drinking buddies. And no, I’m not on FB or IG.

Like the country song, “you find out who your friends are”...

Ponchy I am sorrying you are having to carry that load all on your shoulders.

I totally understand how you feel. With all the stuff going on with my father's ongoing worsening mental illness and my family ...my other sibling was in California and not in a position to really help. I realized he couldn't be there or help financially and was ok with that. But the one thing I asked him to do was at least step up and call them more frequently so he could at least be there for them emotionally.

He seldom calls them. While making sure my dad and my family are ok out here falls pretty much 100% all on my shoulders.

I fantasize all the time about how much easier things would be if I could just magically win the lottery. I'm sure you have had that fantasy in your mind as well.

I hope the load gets lighter for you my friend
