You care WAY too much about your job

In previous role, December was always my busiest month. Seemed like the only time owners had time to fart until the last minute and wanted to spend the remaining cap-ex
it was a strange situation of a strange set up of cold calling being completely useless and still having my best months. So i wouldn't be busy besides a few meetings but everything was urgent
every year some guy would wait until 4pm on new years eve to want something invoiced.
It was annoying dealing with Persians and the Turkish granite cartel that wanted to haggle deals on Christmas Eve, but January checks were always nice. They knew what they were doing and thought they could get a better deal by beating Americans up when no one wants to deal with it. It some sales team unofficially policy to mark up "people of haggle" 30% over normal deals, so they rarely got good deals despite their effort.
Never really got the benefit of a holiday slow day for 10 years

My wife had a medical procedure and won't be back to work for a month. I'm retired and she needs to get back to working so she doesn't try to supervise me too much.

I'm all about moving 12/31 deadlines to 1/15.
It's next to impossible to get anything you need after about 12/20 and with holidays falling on Wednesdays, this year, it will be even more difficult.

this is your chance to also checkout.
As Americans this is the only chance we get every year. Take advantage of it

Yeah. I’m in investment banking. December is one of our busiest months of the year.
I’ve got 10.5 working days to close about 8 deals yet. All working toward 12/31 effectives dates.
I’ve got mid six figures in bonuses on the line, I’m not checking out at all.

Solution: urge your company to hire more Muslims
Can trade Ramadan days for Christmas days.

The good thing about everyone else taking off in December is that it means few people are around to ask me questions, making MY workload a LOT lighter.

I love threads like this because you can tell who is a non essential email job haver that works inside with the women vs who is a real man with a real job

That would actually be awesome, might be able to actually get some shite done.

Must be nice. Have not had a day off or a vacation in the last 15 years. We are short 4 people and no one wants to work so now I’m working Saturdays now . Last person who took vacation days the owner fired his arse the day he got back from his vacation. I have over 600 PTO days, not allowed to use them , probably won ‘t be paid for them.

That sounds like you need to consult a lawyer.

These are the days to not use your vacation when very little is expected of you. I’ll take off a busy week where I would actually have to do shite.

My company is announcing next week that starting 1/6/2025 we are full time back in the office 5 days a week.
How does that even work for you anyway? Do you cook the fries at home and fly them to the customer with a drone?

10 pounds of shite in a 2 pound bag.
I mean a 2 pound bag? If a bag weighs 2 pounds it’s either huge or made of high quality materials. Obviously it can handle a measly 10 pounds of shite. So what are you complaining about?
