We’ve had our generac for 2 years now and haven’t had a power outage for more than 30 minutes since we got it. Go fig.

We’re in downtown Abita and never lost power. Areas north and west of us did. The Abita River went from 8 to 23+ feet is less than 10 hours, so we have water on the property. Hopefully it doesn’t get in the house. The historic crest is around 25 feet. The amount of rain we got was insane.

I learned during hurricane Georges.. Woke up with a bad hang over in a very hot house, no power... nothing cold to drink.. nothing to eat... nothing open to get anything.. Never again.. during a hurricane..

Lost power in unincorporated north Covington at about 7:30pm. We feed off of River Road/ Lee Road so not surprising. Lost Spectrum Internet some time after 10pm when I wasn’t to bed. Slept through all the high winds.

Woke up about 6am when the generator ran out of gas. Water in half the yard from the overflow ditches which the dog couldn’t wait to go running through.

Anyone getting pics from Dulac? We have a camp there below the levee but can’t get any info. Hoping for the best but keeping expectations low.

It may just be where the reports were coming from, but last night, after the eye had passed, it looked like Theriot was getting a lot of flooding, but Dulac and Houma looked better, at least. Haven't seen anything this morning.

ETA: Now, as far as infrastructure wise, there were some crazy shots of power lines on fire and stuff like that.

From someone far away, is the summary that BR was little impacted except a few outages?

First hurricane that touched Baton Rouge in the last 20 years I have not lost power!

Got a little sketchy around mid-night lights flickering but never gave out

So is the storm done?

For Louisiana, yes, other than maybe some lingering light rain and some occasional breezy conditions. The center of Tropical Depression Francine is near Jackson, MS now.

Had to leave AP for work this morning. Anyone see if Demco is out working this morning? Just about the entire parish with Demco has no electricity.

This is the old Samanie Packing Co. processing plant next door to what used to be the IGA.

If you’ve been inside, this mural may jog your memory.

How my Metairie baws holding up this morning?

Had to go out and move the car out the street around 9pm when water was getting high but other than a bunch of light flickering never lost power. Had some water getting in somehow over my kitchen exhaust hood and got some wet spots on the ceiling …

Lee Zurik not holding back, pointing out Cynthia Lee Sheng on the phone at 1130pm and no one from New Orleans answernig phone calls to give information for the past 2 hours.

She’s a great executive and no b.s. leader. Nice to see a competent politician, they really surface at times like these.

There’s a few impressive others out there, excepting the total cluster frick that is the Nola mayor’s office.

Imagine knowing for days a hurricane is coming and not performing general maintenance on the generators that run the pumps that keep the city from flooding.

I work for an ISP, and we test power failover every week of every year for every facility, and we run network equipment test failovers every 6 months. There's a whole operational plan of preparing ourselves for hurricane season. Imagine running something as important as the city water pumps and not having tested them regularly, and especially not having tested them again for an incoming hurricane.. Jesus Christ.

Woke up this morning and turned Fox 8 on. They showed the path the storm took. It looks like she got to Lake Mauripas, took a 90 degree turn east, then came right over Madisonville. I can’t believe I didn’t lose power. Thanking my lucky stars this morning.

We had to move cars up, too. I’ve never seen it flood like this. Rain being pushed under my sliding doors. Later I head what sounded like dripping on my insulated cover to attic fan vent, but don’t know if it was rain through roof or the whirly bird in the wind. No water spots except for what came in under doors.
