I realize this is probably a stupid question, but does this look like the type of hurricane that can spawn tornados? Thats one of my irrational fears
. Asking mainly for the New Orleans area. I’m pretty safe from flooding and trees where I’m at, so my main concern from a storm like this is tornados.. the way my house is designed I really don’t have any protection if one were to happen

Yes, that was discussed earlier in the thread. Something about hurricanes hating sheer, but tornado producing weather not caring.

Someone right above said New Orleans area will be a whimper
So a summer afternoon storm that goes on for a few hours?

Yes they’re predicting class type level 3 of tornado spawning tropical system.

Channel 4 saying gust of winds 40 mph (maybe up to 50) and up to 5 inches of rains (and that might be on the high side)

To add on. I just upped my apple space for photo uploads. That way photos would go to the cloud and I'd have access.
We had major damage from Ida. Beforehand, I videoed everything. Afterwards while ripping out sheetrock, I showed the water damaged sheetrock for everything. Even took photos of the Sporicidin and me applying it everywhere.
It pays to be meticulous.
Our field adjuster was great, but also wrote up the items incorrectly...i.e the wrong molding size (things you worry about later). You can tell fairly quickly if the field adjuster knows what they are doing. Don't be afraid to point out things in a respectful manner as most are from out of state and just as hard put up as you.
Insurance was hard to deal with, but when we finally got in touch with an adjuster that worked for the company (they will outsource idiots) the process wasn't too bad because we documented absolutely everything.
I lost $5k because I installed laminate flooring upstairs instead of paying $8K and having insurance cover it for carpet. I would have needed a contractor to install carpet....insurance considered laminate hardwood an upgrade...so you deal with such things.
Good luck. I need to take another video around our house tomorrow.

Where did you hear that? Cuz my kid just texted me and said “mom classes aren’t even canceled” when I asked if she was staying in the sorority house or wants to come with us. ;/

If I remember correctly the eye passed just to the west of BR (around gross tete maybe) around 1-2 pm in the afternoon didn’t it?
This can’t be true. All the soccer moms are saying hurricanes only make landfall at night.

See NHC forecasts and advisories for additional information
regarding Francine. Some tornado threat will spread inland as
Francine approaches the coast during the day before making landfall
by evening. Based on current forecasts/guidance, the most favorable
overlap of strengthening low-level shear/SRH and inland intrusion of
tropical moisture (with dewpoints in the mid/upper 70s F) is
expected across parts of southern LA/MS, where a small Slight Risk
has been included. The northern extent of an appreciable tornado
threat remains uncertain, with surface-based buoyancy potentially
remaining quite limited into parts of central MS Wednesday night,
but the Marginal Risk has been expanded based on the expected track
of Francine into early Thursday morning.

Ha I only mentioned it was discussed early to prevent people from shouting me down because I’m not Duke or rds.

It’s brick, but I don’t have that central room/bathroom away from windows. My house is a big ‘L’ so there’s no real protection where I’d feel safe with my wife/kids
