To anyone who knows anything about Vermilion and Iberia parish, that storm surge map isn't remotely shocking unfortunately.

I was in your position a few years ago, so I'd like to offer some advice, especially if you're married.

1. Be angry/mad/sad at the circumstances and not at your spouse. Extended time without electricity can break or strengthen your relationship. Whether it's fair or not, count to 10, take a deep breath, and be patient before your respond to anything she says. She's gonna worry about things you haven't considered, and that can help you in the long run.

2. First thing tomorrow morning, turn every electronic device on that you can. Take a video of everything you have and have documented proof that are all in working order. Video every inch of your property that you can. Fences, landscaping, back patios, etc. The more evidence you have the easier it will make your claim if the worst happens

3. If you have roof or ceiling damage, don't wait on an adjuster to mitigate things. Be prudent, review your policy, take more pictures than you'd ever thought you'd need, and document what you demod step by step. Tarp your roof if it has damage. When an agent shows up, if they want to see it untarped, tell them they need to assume responsibility for the cost of untarping and retearping. A lot of adjustors won't push the issue, but some will. I hope you get a good one and can skip that headache

Godspeed to anyone dealing with the aftermath of this storm. I wish you the best. I hope we're all laughing about how over prepared we were when we BTFO UCLA at home in a couple weeks. GEAUX TIGERS!

This isn't the same storm that was modeled by the computers 2 weeks ago, us it? I thought that one was the continuation of the storm the was forming off the coast of Africa.

I mean we are in land around 100 miles. So by the time it hits us it won’t be a cat 2. BR has lots of trees so that will prob be an issue and that means down power lines. It seems like entergy takes forever to get power back after lots of trees fall. If she doesn’t want to be in the heat then maybe she can come visit you.

I get it. Now that we have no kids at home, it’d take a 4 or 5 to get me out. Unless my husband drug me out. lol.

Enjoy that sweet girl.

We drove our 14 foot boat into my parents garage. Immediately starting pulling carpets and cutting dry wall above flood line. Saved a ton.

Thanks SW2. He got all at work and his parents settled .. we’re now good here.

Laundry done .. meals prepped .. generator ready.

Just hoping for no damage.

Appreciate the advice .. stay safe.
