What’s the best model for determining wind speeds at a specific location? Can someone link that?

This can’t be true. All the soccer moms are saying hurricanes only make landfall at night.
Hmm…if it was in Gross Tete in the early afternoon it probably did make landfall at night.

NWS
Under forecasts, click on hourly. Then click on your location. Read the graph. Not a model but an actual forecast. Check back twice a day since it'll be track dependent.

ETA here's the plot for south br. The peak is right where the page cuts off, so you'll have to click forward 2 days to get the rest.

I was visiting my daughter last spring and tornado sirens went off. It lasted for a good 20 minutes.

I had a good hall closet to hide in under a staircase and had taken pillows with me.

It was just eerie .. all worked out fine.

Nothing has been officially canceled. Given the current track classes will likely be cancelled Wednesday and Thursday. Friday depends on area damage. That’s based on experience with prior storms.

For students from Parishes most affected, LSU is usually very generous with makeup policies so they can go home and help.

Can confirm that's about when the eye passed over. I was outside and had to walk three miles in the rear eyewall.

2nd scariest thing ever.

That chart made my head hurt trying to read it. No matter, off I go for another roundtrip to Grand Isle tomorrow. I’m going to haul all my shite to Springfield, only to have the eye pass right over.
