The manager can’t be a victim because they don’t own any of the contents of the wallet. All the cops will do is laugh and leave. Ignore them.
Only the owner of the wallet has any standing to talk to the cops and even then he/she has nothing that proved you intended to permanently deprive.
I am not an attorney.

You’re retarded. This is a common scam to rob people. Drop a fake arse wallet somewhere (preferably a white part of town), wait for some Good Samaritan to take the bait, then rob them at the meet up.
RIP in peace OP
This is really stupid and doesn't happen

frick the manager. Don’t trust him/her.
This. As soon as they get that $100 they're throwing everything else away or putting it behind the counter and telling the owner there was no cash in it when someone turned it in.

Ask the manager for a list of what was in the wallet. What type of credit cards, issuing bank, and such. Until then frick them.

It all boils down to whether you trust yourself or the manager to do the right thing more.
I say frick the manager.
I say frick the manager.

Dude probably can't remember where he left it.
Just mail the stuff to him and tell him to have a good day.
Do not listen to a gas station manager.

Keep 15% of the cash as a finder's fee if you want.

He then said he would call the police if I don’t return the contents.
Tell him “Perfect, I planned to meet the owner at a police station anyway.”

Kind of like what cops do with drug seizure money?

You should meet the gas station manager at Sonic, winner take all.
Posted on 9/5/21 at 7:18 pm to foj1981
Take it down to the police station. Tell them the wallet is at the store, you didn’t trust the people working there to do the right thing with the contents.
Then it’s none of your business or problem.

I would not have taken cash and a credit card out of the wallet. That’s pretty fricking dumb.

Exactly. Don’t even pick up the wallet. What’s the first thing a wallet thief says? They found it.

That’s stupid. Either keep all of it or give it all away.
Exactly. What’s the point of turning in an empty wallet???

How did the “Manager” sound on the phone? Accent?
