I once got to a drive through ATM, and the screen says "Would you like another transaction?" Some guy had driven away without his debit card. So, I push no, because I was raised correctly, and look the guy up on social media. I message him "I have your debit card" and this jackass has the tenacity to ask me to deliver it to him at a downtown Baton Rouge bar, since he was already out. I did so, because I was heading there, but I thought it was really shitty on his part. He wasn't even thankful when I handed him the card. I chalked it up to him being an electrical engineer with zero social skills (LinkedIn)

Quite frankly, if it was my wallet I would be grateful that the finder both identified himself and did not turn over the cash to a Racetrack employee for “safe keeping.”

One of my sons found a wallet in a parking lot with debit card, drivers license, college I’d card and no money. We tried social media, etc., and nuttin. I brought it to a local police station and left it.

2003 Auburn vs USCw. I had sold some tickets for a friend that couldn't go to the game and had a good bit of cash. After the game, pissed at the spectrum. Got back to apartment and couldn't find my wallet. A lady from Montgomery found it and called my mom from my address. I went to her office and she gave it back to me. Sweet lady. My mama made me switch my vehicle insurance over to her immediately lol. I was so relieved and happy i got it back

Back to the OP. I don't understand removing the contents. I would have just kept it myself (if I didn't trust the employees) and found him myself and given it to the police if I couldn't.

My thought was that he would return to where he last remembered his wallet and retrieve it then find the note to contact me for his cash and CC. I felt the chances of me finding him were slim so if he got the wallet he could then call me.
Leaving the cash in the wallet was not an option for him to ever get his money back from the store

Oddly enough, after being on first page of comments in this thread my son and I were shopping today at the Neighborhood Walmart on Highland & Lee and wouldn't you know the boy grabbed the ONE cart that had a wallet in the child seat area!!
Luckily for the girl she was an easy find on LinkedIn and Facebook. Sent her a message and within 30-40 minutes she had her wallet back in hand.
Not that I particularly care and I'll chalk it up to her apparent youth, but she definitely did not express the kind of gratitude one might anticipate for the effort of getting in touch to return the wallet with contents still in it.
Luckily for the girl she was an easy find on LinkedIn and Facebook. Sent her a message and within 30-40 minutes she had her wallet back in hand.
Not that I particularly care and I'll chalk it up to her apparent youth, but she definitely did not express the kind of gratitude one might anticipate for the effort of getting in touch to return the wallet with contents still in it.
