Found a Flying Squirrel in the Street

I knew that they lived here(Alabama), but I'd never seen one. My nieces found it not moving in the street that my parents live on. It didn't seem to be bleeding, or have any injured extremities. Must have been in shock or something.
We put it in a box on the back deck, gave it some water, walnuts, and almonds, and it started to become more and more alert. It eventually climbed out and went on its way at some point during the night. Either that, or an owl, or cat got it I reckon, but my aunt claimed that she saw it alive in the trees that morning.

Very cool. About 20 years ago my buddy had some in his neighborhood in the middle of Lafayette. He trapped a couple to keep as pets.

I killed 50 of those frickers in my attic before I could find out where they were getting in.

I had one as a pet when I was a youngster, it lived in my closet.

they make little squeaks at night

My mauler cat brings us one of these every year. Comical watching me chase a flying squirrel through the damn house with the wife screaming.

I dated a girl in high school and her dad told me they had one living in their back yard. I laughed and laughed and told him there was no way he had a flying squirrel in his yard in AL. I seriously thought he was screwing with me for months until I saw the damn thing gliding between trees one day while helping him out out some mulch. They are really cool animals though.

My dad caught two for me and my bro when we were like 5 yrs old in Bham. Woke up in the middle of the night to them escaping and crawling all over the blinds in our room. Was funny watching dad scrambling to try and catch them in our bedroom. Eventually he did and let them go the next day. They’re cool animals.

They are nocturnal btw, and can squeeze through holes like a mouse

Found one at night after checking to see what my cat was trying to attack. He got away and climbed the wall on the side of my house. I was pretty sure it was a flying squirrel but I had to look up on Google to make sure it was one. Pretty cool animal.
