Currently have one that lives, or spends a lot of time in, a pecan tree in my backyard. He comes gliding in about 10:30 every night, hits the trunk about five feet up and scurries up the tree. He’s been doing this almost nightly during the warm months for several years now. Pretty cool.

On a funnier note, one of my roommates when I was in grad school found one in his yard when he was back home visiting family. Brought it back with him to our apartment.

Nice, there are a bunch of barred owls, or hoot owls, around east Birmingham where I live. I got some cool shots of one that was on the fence in front of my gf's apartment a couple of months ago. Was owlsome.

There's a big White Tailed Hawk that sleeps and hunts at the Golf Course nearby.My 11 year old G. Niece crept up directly under it while it was watching me.When it looked down and saw her 20 ft below it,it about fell off the limb.

I've got one of those frickers in my neighborhood who thinks it's funny to sit right outside my bedroom window in a tree hooting his arse off at 3AM.
Pretty cool having critters like him, foxes, 'yotes and such and only be five minutes from downtown though.

I live in north central Alabama and I’ve seen them. They are really cool when going from one tre to another.

Not at 3:00am. They are very nocturnal. They would wake us up overnight and drive my wife crazy.
I first tried the live trap but they could get through the holes in the trap. I just used a large spring rat trap. Got about 20 fo them the first week. Had no idea that many were coming in. Just used peanut butter.
I finally found a small area in my roof where the builder left some space. I put some baby powder there and it was where they were coming in. I did not even know we had those things around my house.
Anyway, used some roofing flashing and closed the hole up and they have never been back.

Nice! There are a bunch of red-tailed and broad-winged hawks around here as well. I got this one on a little trail near my house.

The flying squirrel is probably half way to Frostbite Falls, Minn by now.
