New Mexican Article

Forrest Fenn said the chase is over and claims his treasure has been found.

"It's true," he said in a phone call Sunday, adding that the finder of his chest located his valuable goods in the wilderness "a few days ago."

Fenn did not want to give any clues as to where the treasure was found or who found it.

"The guy who found it does not want his name mentioned. He’s from back East," he said, adding that it was confirmed from a photograph the man sent him.

I'd love to see the thought process behind all nine clues and also am eager to see what the actual treasure was comprised of.

Edit: The thought process of solving the nine clues*

That’s really cool. I remember watching the Expedition Unknown episode about it. It felt like researchers were getting close. I’m just relieved that there actually was a treasure and he wasn’t just pulling everyone’s leg.

Several people have died over the years hunting for this treasure. He’s been under pressure to end the hunt.

Has the treasure really been found, or is this a ruse to get authorities to back off?

Or, there never was a treasure and it was all a publicity stunt.

Would be creepy if it was a corpse. Then immediately admits and confesses to a murder.

I hope Josh Gates is able to put together a follow up soon. It would work perfectly with his new talk show format.

Dude in New Mexico buried a treasure in a national park claimed to be worth millions. He put the clues to where he hid the treasure in a poem inside his autobiography. He thought it would be fun for families to go on an adventure to find it and discover the joy that is nature and our national parks. He thought it would be found in like 5 years, but it actually took decades. People began to suspect it was a hoax to sell his book, and that there never was a treasure.

Someone finally claims to have found it recently, the treasure buryer confirms it, and the finder wants to remain anonymous. Now everyone wants to know where it was found, how, and what the treasure consisted of.
