Because a New Orleans accent is not a Southern accent at all and is more of New York/Jersey port accent

was surprised by her lack of a southern accent. The old lady from Missouri sounded more southern than her.

Southern Missouri is the South.

Listen to Sara Evans ( who's from that part of Missouri) talk once.

Southerners under 40 or so that grew up in metro areas seem to be a hit or miss in terms of retaining accents, especially if they have moved out of the region for work. It's a shame but a trend that will only amplify as our media sources are less localized.

Yep, I have a very strong accent from living in Bossier majority of my life. I fear my children will have the same sterilized accent the rest of DFW has unfortunately. Hate that for em.

The southern accent is dying off it seems. Truly a shame.

A little surprised he said that.. i used to see Seacrest a lot at a bar in Cali where we’d watch SEC games and he’s a big Georgia Bulldog guy .. well , not big, he’s actually pretty petite for a guy .
