There is a difference between dumb and unnecessary. Spending over $15k is usually unnecessary, but it's not dumb if it's something you enjoy.
Agreed.
And if it something you can easily afford.

I could care less what dude driving next to me on the road in a raptor paid. Sorry you can’t afford a raptor and you’re envious.

Go buy your XL package and dump 20 grand into suspension, wheels, tire, interior upgrades, trying to equal what a Raptor can already do, and see what you get on trade in. The price of an XL, and it is still not as capable. Now dump another 20 grand into your powertrain upgrade and chassis stiffening. What's your XL worth? The price of an XL.

Ford Raptor is basically the modern Hummer H2. It's huge, looks ridiculous, is rarely taken off road, and is driven by colossal douchebags.

I smell a lot of jealousy in here from oil field baws that can’t afford their dream truck.

Or, Prius drivers who get scared when one is coming up fast in their rear view mirrors.

I glad you care, even if only a little. <3

I don't have a dream truck.
If I did, it wouldn't be a Ford product.

I have a friend that bought a F-250 Black Widow and had Southern Comfort do the customization. But he strokes checks for his stuff and doesn’t need to finance anything. I imagine it was over $130k when all said and done. It’s the sharpest truck I have ever seen and was a one off even by Southern Comforts typical customization.

I would never show up to work (or anywhere) in something that ridiculous. Even if I wanted one, I couldn't risk someone seeing me behind the wheel of something like that.

Hennessy Velociraptors are badass.
6x6 is $350K. The standard turbo upgrade is like $8-10K, can bump it up to like 750 horsepower.

I didn't have my stickers removed (my wife liked them), but I always have them remove any dealer decals or emblems. If it's the license plate bracket, I just discard it at home. I'm not an advertisement for the dealership.

its crazy to me how our appetite for vehicles has grown. much like our appetite for square ft of houses. You can still buy your daddy's truck, a base tundra or f150 all vinyl, white, but with 4 doors and a back seat and a v8 for under $30K off the lot. but people want this/that/wheels/etc.

Not true at all. You take your standard 4x4 shop and say make me a Raptor. You're not going to like the price.
Then you're not going to like telling people that its really just an XLT trying to be a raptor.

quote:You realize the base price on the Raptor is just over $50k right, maybe $60k once you start adding options? Good luck trying to buy a different 4WD truck off the lot, then have a 4x4 shop modify the suspension and get 500 HP out of the engine for less than just buying the Raptor. And you'd have a warranty on the Raptor, where you'd have voided all your warranties modifying some other truck.

It’s just the finest truck on the market. Raptors are the Lambos in the truck world. There’s actually nothing that is remotely close to it. It’s in a class by itself.
My guess is that you don’t drive a truck.

Where do you live?
I know in Dallas a good friend of mine just bought one and he basically had to pay sticker because they fly off the lots here. From what i’ve been told you’re at the very least paying $65K and for a more desirable color likely $70K.
The haggling on price for Raptors, at least up here, is non-existant.
