Ford owners, if you haven't used FORSCAN (LOL i know), you need to.

I posted this on the OB over the weekend but figured it may be helpful to non OB Ford owners.
Basically, a $30 module allows you to connect a PC to your truck, where you can then edit all of the trucks control modules
I just:
- disabled seatbelt warnings (I always wear a seatbelt for 95% of driving. If I'm at the camp or something and getting in and out of truck constantly, I aint putting it on though. Either way, I dont need a babysitting truck)
- enabled Bambi mode (can run fogs and brights at same time, awesome for driving on roads with no/poor lighting)
- disabled double honk (when you leave truck running with key fob in your pocket, it honks twice - annoying af)
- enabled police mode. this makes it to where if the key fob is not in truck, the transmission is locked and it cant put be put into gear. No clue how this doesn't come as a default setting. With factory config, if you left your truck to run and grab something in the house, a dindu could get in and drive off with no issue (they just wouldnt be able to start it again if they turned it off). This prevents that.
- Enabled Auto-fold Mirrors (fold on lock, unfold on door close or engine start - whichever is first)
- Enabled Reverse Mirror Tilt - select a side mirror and put truck in reverse, then mirror will tilt downward for you.
You can do pretty much anything, even disable Auto Start/Stop (lots of people download FORSCAN just do this).
Takes 30-45 min to get all the software and drivers configured, but well worth the time. Can change pretty much anything about your truck lol. Just be sure to back up all the module configurations in case you F something up.

If you start the truck without your seatbelt on my truck chimes 4 times and is annoying. I'm in and out a lot not just drive.

Is yours a push button start? My 2017 still has the folding out key.

it doesnt. these are all factory options and not "tuning options," so your warranty isn't voided. they would also have to prove you made any changes.
if you back up all of your modules like I said, you can always revert things back to normal in case things go south

turned off all "wake up" chimes as well. even if your seatbelt is on, it would do the "doo doo doo" when you turn it on. not anymore

i'm sure there is. guy on OB said there's a toyota equivalent, so im sure each brand has their own flavor of software scanner

That's easy. The computer will tell them. Even if you put the factory programming back in, the computer will indicate it's been flashed after it left the factory.
It's almost like carmakers could foresee that people would try to change the programming on the vehicle's computers, frick up their vehicles, and try to get them to fix it for free.
If you're not stupid with it, tweaking the vehicle's computers is a nice way to upgrade and get your vehicle configured just the way you want it, like you did, but you do run the risk of being flat denied warranty repair if anything breaks that can be connected to changes in programming.

Can also adjust TPMS settings. Folks that like to run their tires at unloaded pressure can appreciate this.
