I live in DFW, a 4 WD is just more shite to break and more to pay for.
But I appreciate your opinion

If you’re driving it past 100k miles buy the Tundra. If you’re driving it 75k miles buy the one - any model- with the most bells and whistles that you would use.
I’ve had Ford, GMC and Toyota. At about 85-100k miles something relatively mid major will go wrong on Ford or GM. By 150k one more thing. They Toyota will be maintenance free to 150k. I lost a radiator at 189k on a Toyota. Was the first mid major problem I had. Rebuilt a front end on an f-150 at 100k miles. Same f1-50 developed a major oil leak at 125k miles. Had to trade it in.

It's a toss up and it's best to check recall issues. For example, Ford just had a recall on F150's for transmission problems.

I've had a Sierra 1500 with 3L diesel for about 2 years now. I love it. No issues so far. It gets up to 32 mpg going 78 mph on my commutes.

I saw that. That happened to me several years ago. Driving 75 on interstate and all of a sudden it starts down shifting. Fortunately it was still under warranty when they fixed it. Can't believe it took them seven years to find the fix.
To be fair the recall isn't on the physical transmission. It's a software upgrade for the computer that controls the transmission.

24 F150 XLT 4x4 3.5 ecoboost here…24k miles no problems but I did buy the extended warranty to 8 years 125k miles…awesome truck. Lots of features, can even subscribe to Blue Cruise. In a GM you have to buy a loaded Denali to get super cruise.

But you don't have to subscribe for Super Cruise. At least not the first 3 years.

At least I have the option to have it in a truck that is 25k less out the door

Light use. Just hauling bikes and ice chests and household stuff. Some 4wd.
Sounds like you really don't need a full size truck, unless you really just want one. A Tacoma or similar would probably get the job done for you.
If you want to go full size, every brand has it's issues right now because of current regulations. Really there's no choice that's all that much better than the next.

Ridgeline?

Everybody says Tundra but the $5k Toyota premium for an 2% increase in catastrophic repairs (likely under warranty) isn’t worth it just to say I’ve got the more reliable rig. Americans are terrible at risk. It’s one of the reasons nobody builds shite anymore.

Right now I'd buy in this order:
F150
Ram 1500
Tundra
GM
Both current GM V8s are bad.

I would put my F150 KR up against any other 1/2 T. It’s thoroughly nice and well built.

Seats are absolute dogshit in new Chevrolets and GMCs now, uncomfortable as hell. Like sitting on a rock at a bad angle.
Has anyone considered that the seats have to be firmer these days because most Americans are heavy fat asses?
