bad too. And to make matter worse Toyota and Honda share a variant of the same tranny so certain models of those are trouble. This all started when Ford and GM teamed up to develop a common 10 speed for the future in 2013 they could both share and use shared knowledge and the best people to do it. It's in the Raptor and other F150's inc the super charged V-6 models. 2020 Silverado's with 6.2 L engines have the same issues, This new "Together we are stronger" touchy, feely slogan needs three words added to it Or Mutually Screwed.

Damn. It is a great trans when working. I recently rented a camaro with it. Great economy and crazy performance. I hope they can figure things out.

I guess ram sticking with the proven ZFs was a good move.

You brought all this into a thread and not one link to any reputable source.

So basically you had a bad experience and now everything is broken?

Manual trans FTW.

If it doesn't have 3 pedals, I don't want it.

While it would have been nice to cite some sources it has been becoming clear the 10R80 does have some pattern issues. There is already a class action suit. Trucks aren't my bag so I don't dig into the details but they shouldn't be too hard to find if it interests or potentially impacts you.

I just sold my business and switched my personal F150 with 10 speed to a Nissan Titan. I never had problems with the 10 speed in the F150 or any F150 I used for business. Just never kept a full-size over 2 years either as I used it for business.

The Nissan Titan I bought as a dealer demo loaded with the Cummins diesel from a friend. He is a sales manager for a Nissan Dealer in Texas and needed to sell it. Cross my fingers hope it last more than a few years as this is my truck not my business truck. It was a really eye opening aggressive price versus a gas truck and I really did not want a diesel truck.

My other truck a Chevy Colorado 4x4 tricked out and it more of just a play toy than a workhorse.

Those days are long gone.
Back in the day they did last.
A new clutch was a lot cheaper than a transmission.

I miss the old days also but reality is what it is.

My last F150 was a 2019 and I did like how the 10 speed shifted. It was a truck my business paid for and I bought them under a fleet deal with enough buying power to get a break. The last dealer gave me a leather package 4x4 F150 for $28k in exchange for me to buy 8 panel trucks from them.

When you go out on your own with no negotiation of buying in volume trucks get expensive and closer to $40k. A Nissan at $32k to me seemed like a great deal.

The 10 speed is noticeably nicer than a 6 speed. It's hard to believe vehicles once had three speed autos for decades, then they threw on an OD when speed limits went to 65 and CAFE regs hit.

I've heard about the hard shifting into reverse or drive, and occasionally experience that, but overall this transmission with the V8 drives like a nice car around town. You don't really feel it upshift as it smoothly accelerates.

My neighbor’s new Chevy has spent a ton of time in the shop for tranny issues. Supposedly they’ve got it worked out this time. I believe it was an electrical issue.

Yep, manual is the way to fly unless you trade often enough to keep factory warranty.
