There are currently 2,165 icu beds in use

The “surge” capacity is 2,689

And that doesn’t even take into account other steps the city can take.

Friend,

Why did you recently stop posting your nearly daily thread on Covid death rate? You had quite a streak of keeping us informed and then went silent since Monday.

Yours,

I wish hospitals had time to prepare for this. We need to flatten the curve.

I work for a large TMC hospital. We have surge capacity of around 1,000 additional ICU beds in the TMC here as of today. This would be going to Phase 4. We currently are in Phase 2. The issue is staffing. We have quite a few providers that have caught COVID. If we get to Phase 4, we will need outside providers from NY/NJ/MA to fly in to help. Hopefully we don't get there.

why would I be worried about icu capacity in Houston, even if I lived in Houston?

Surge capacity is an extra 2,600 or are they ~500 from maxing out?

This is not a sarcastic or "gotcha" question.

Do you know anything about ICU capacity in the Houston Metro Area outside of the TMC? There are several hospitals outside of the TMC, as well as satellite locations of TMC hospitals, but I am not sure how many of them actually have ICUs. Or if those numbers are included in the TMC data.

Can you help me find one like this for Mississippi? Thanks. I'm still looking.

Actually I find the chart but not all the other stuff.

Do we have any information on ICU usage/capacity from last year at this time compared to now?

This is the same everywhere, yet media refuses to acknowledge it or even question hospital reps about it. Then, you have ignorant arse people who lap every article from local news up like it is gospel without researching anything.
