For those of you old enough to remember, how does this situation compare to 9/11

Was one situation scarier than the other?

I was on East Cameron 60 when 9/11 happened and I remember exactly where I was when that happened. This will be a big event in my lifetime but won’t stop me in my tracks like watching those planes hit the World Trade Center.

Totally different feel. 9/11 was like a bomb. It hit hard and fast. Left you in disarray.

This is a slow and steady buildup. The only similarities, for me, were those feelings of “ok, now what do we do?” the morning after shite hit the fan. (Trump Speech and NBA cancellations)

911 was really specific to just a part of New York, sad but not far reaching, we are shutting down half the worlds economy with the virus, It has never been done before, at best we pick back up where we started at worst businesses bust, bank foreclosures all over the country and we are looking at 1929 all over again.

9/11 was the most shocking event to hit this country since Pearl Harbor. Complete shock.

Whatever this is, and whatever the outcome, it is a fricking slow crawl.

Much different feeling

That wasn’t just New York. That was the entire USA and we have been messing with those goat frickers since then. We had the first Gulf war but since 9/11 we’ve been there for almost 20 years.

9/11 was a quick deliberate sucker punch that emotionally affected most Americans the same way and ultimately united us, even if temporarily. This is a slow agonizing event that has seemingly created two sides that are separating further away from each other every day. This may have also been deliberate, but I feel for one reason or another we’ll never know for sure. Very different feel to each scenario. The only thing I see in common is that both caused American loss of life. This one has a chance to take the economy with it too.

9/11 didn’t affect my life in any meaningful way other than the federal policy decisions that were a result of it, but there wasn’t a direct impact to my personal life. It was shocking, and you felt for all the families involved, but life was “normal” for the majority of the country very soon after.

Corona is straight fricking all of us...hard...and it ain’t about to cum anytime soon.

There is a pre 9/11 and a post 9/11 world

There won’t be a pre-Covid19 and a post-Covid19 world

Human lives will be affected and human lives will be lost but this is all temporary. 9/11 left an indelible scar on the US and shook American citizens to the core.

The economic and social impact will clearly dwarf 911

At least for civilians

I'm not scared or affected by either one. Still working and doing mostly the same stuff. Just mass hysteria everywhere..

Only difference now is the Ms. wears a face mask along with her facial glasses now during the money shot.
