Agree very different. I can see the scene of where I was on 9/11 like it was yesterday.

Difficult to compare now since coronavirus is still going on. So you would have to compare now to the events immediately following the attack. Ask me in 20 years how the Coronavirus was.
9/11 was very scary for millions of Americans. Many didn’t think an attack like 9/11 was possible on US soil.
All commercial air traffic immediately suspended for a few days and once resumed would never be the same.
Initial outpour of patriotism followed by a rash of hate crimes and racism.
Started a War.

911 was a one time event
It was way away from here
Didn’t really effect people that didn’t live in that part of the country outside week or so of air travel.

Yeah this is a slow burn.
Think a mild version of a disaster movie coming true. It's something you've thoughts about, it wasn't, and still isn't shocking. It's just more of a "well this shite is actually happening, so I guess it's better we got the .5% death version instead of the 10% death version" combined with "how long is it going to take us to economically recover."
9/11, however, changed our understanding of our own vulnerability in the world, our perception of an enemy that ACTUALLY wants to kill us, and to some extent, could do so. I remember watching the coverage in a classroom thinking "well I guess all those college applications were for nothing" because in the moment I was fully expecting we'd all go to war (and some did, obviously). I don't think I'm overdramatizing either, I suspect a lot of people felt it would change everything. And in many ways it did.

Sadly, there were some people in the world happy about 9-11 and cheered it on, but there won’t be many in the world reacting that way to this because everyone is at risk. There is a saying that “a bullet ain’t got no name on it” but this virus has everybody’s name on it. Stay safe.

9/11 was a sudden shock to your system. That whole day was so incredibly surreal and it seemed like everyone was just going through the motions and wondering how to move on.
COVID-19 is more of a slow burn, and that slow burn has created a lot of denial on the severity of it. There was none of that on 9/11 and the immediate days afterwards. Can't remember when the 9/11 Truther theories started, but seems like it was within a few weeks.
Anyway, I think this thing is going to have more long term implications and the final American death toll is going to dwarf the 9/11 attacks. It's going to take years for the economy to recover.

9/11 was obviously huge across the entire country. However, 9/11 didn’t cause the long duration disruption to most people’s daily lives like the Coronavirus pandemic.
And when I say disruption, I mean things like not being able to go to work, school, church, etc.

Very good point
Obviously 9/11 impacted the entire world in the long run, but this is a genuine worldwide event from the outset. In that way, it's probably unique in my lifetime.

I also doubt this is going to re-launch Lee Greenwood's career again like 9/11 did.
