We are the same age. Was great going to concerts back then. The t-shirts for whatever band you were seeing was more than the ticket. Got to see Metallica, motley crue, and heart played with Kansas the same concert. Wished I could have seen Led Zeppelin.

In 84 I was 15 years old in New Orleans with a 78 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and a fake ID that was a real Louisiana license. Back then all you needed was a birth certificate and a SS card. Your buddy would give you his older brothers documents and you go to the DMV and walk out legal to drink in any bar. Mainly hit the uptown bars, The Boot, Metro, AT2’s, etc.
I survived those years by the grace of God.

I remember 1944 - six years old.
And that last shot of the radio - looks pretty much exactly as my memory has frozen the image of the one my parents were huddled around when I was 3 listening to FDR address the nation after Pearl Harbor.
That is the first vivid memory of my life - had no idea what was going on, but knew it was bad - mother crying, dad and brother fighting mad, me hoping it was not my fault.
That was a time when you could nail the brand of a car just by seeing its silhouette from a block away.

I’m old. Legal drinking age in Alabama then was 19 and I hit it in 84. Was in my first year at Bama. Sucks that we had Ray Perkins as coach.

1984 is as far back as my memory goes.
I was three. I remember the World's Fair. The monorail and getting yelled at by my uncle for rocking the gondola over the river and the kiddie wash.
40 years ago. Crazy.
The last ten years went so fast. I constantly think of trips or things I did in 2013, 14 like they were recently.

My friend Alan Hunter was famous then as one of MTV's VJ's. That was when they actually played music videos... Alan, from Birmingham, was such a nerd before MTV.

They would put in jail for that now. When a youngster early / mid 70's we rode in the back of the truck. Dad had mounted an old car seat against the cab that faced backwards. We would ride there or sit on the fender well. Only time we got to ride in the cab was when it was raining. Today they would throw you under the jail if they caught a kid in the bed of a truck.
Your post reminded me of these…

I was hopped up on perfectly legal Ecstasy with a date, at a table by the Greenville Ave. Country Club pool, in Dallas, after graduating college in 1983. No better time in my life.

Graduated HS in 1984. At LSU 84-88. Great time to be alive

I graduated from High School and entered LSU as a freshman.
1984 was arguably one of the best years of my life.
So far.
