I'm gonna get my house built dirt cheap toward the end of this year when all the builders are sitting around with nothing to do
The only problem is your current house may be worth a lot less if there is tons of foreclosed inventory to compete with and not enough buyers.
Sort of a catch 22

So you're OK with $2.39/gallon then.

Yeah, I wouldn't think twice about filling up or where I was driving at that price.
This isn't to say I don't like cheap gas/oil, I love it. I just hate what it does to our local economy.

I hear you.

My SMH moment in all this for the past several years isn't just the F250 craze but when you see one you know there is much more to their "garage".
Acquaintances I know followed up the trucks with a 4-wheeler, side by side, fishing boat, 5th Wheel and all kinds of shite to "hit the woods and water and drink beer..."
Their 3/2/2 wasn't the priority. The shite to put next to it was.
It will be harder for most of them to lose their toys than their house.

current house is on the market now, I'm going to rent while building
If I can't get what I want for it then I'll just rent it for a few years til I can

Americans were paying a smaller percentage of their monthly expenses than at any time in history before this price plunge. It amazes me that anyone can be so ignorant as to think that US oil companies are/were gouging. There is price manipulation for oil, by it's by the OPEC cartel, not XOM and CVX. The tail does not wag the dog.

Yea I would. Sadly, there may be a huge rental demand soon as people go into foreclosure.

I think what has pissed people off about gas prices is when there is a threat of a hurricane in the gulf it sends prices up quick...and the fall is slow. All the while the oil companies were making record profits. It's hard to feel sympathy for them when the the price of oil falls after that kind of crap. 20 years ago a hurricane entered the gulf and you didn't even notice an impact at the pumps.

That's just anecdotal. How many people ACTUALLY lived like that?

I remember in public accounting in houston around 09. This little firm I worked for lost a big client and I went a couple months with less than 40 hrs billable total....surprised they kept me that long

No. I currently have 150-200 that my workers have found in foreclosed properties. They are in my storage unit.

Yea, these Baws losing their jobs I can guarantee you were the same ones making fun of people on welfare/unemployment all while touting the tenets of republican capitalism and demanding to see Obama's birth certificate in 2008.
Karma's a, well, you know.
