Sold my house 2 years ago, bought a 24' to repaint my chimney cap. I won't lie, I was very uneasy doing it and moved slow and deliberate near the top. When I was younger the whole job would have been 10 minutes.

I'm about to the point of paying people for that work now.

i feel off a 8 foot ladder in my bathroom. Stuck on the wall so i did not hit the floor. look straight forward. My doctor told me to yell at my parents because of the genes they had passed to me.

Over in Dallas they are usually all 12/12 pitch or 14/12 pitch roofs. You wouldn't get up on your roof, not at all!

I agree. My builder warned me about having a steep roof where the contractor has to tie them self off to replace shingles.
However one that steep doesn't need leaves cleaned off.

An older neighbor fell off a 8 ft ladder while trimming a tree and broke both ankles. Happened in an instant. His life was messed up after that. That ended my ladder days beyond a simple 3 ft step ladder.

I've thought a lot about building a roof robot. Just put it up there and drive it around via remote control to clean the roof.

The robots have already been built.....drones. Now can you find a battery operated blower of a light weight with soft blowing parts (if it hits the gutter).

clearing a downspout is more easily done with a plumbers "rooter".

Not yet, but I do this very seldom. When I do it my wife is holding the ladder. I fell off of an extension ladder back in 1995 that injured my back.

Many many mons ago I sued to rig Scaffolding... I am talk stuff that scaled walls 20 stories high.. I worked on buildings 40 stories.

One day I was sitting in a bosun's chair about 10 stories high spraying water repellent.. I looked far away at a field.. Then straight down.. and said.. : "What the hell am I doing way up here sitting in a chair?".. and I was never the same again.

This is not me, but it shows a bosun's chair in action...

I don't have a height issue, I have a ladder issue and roof issue. Last year before Ida I climbed on my roof to bag and tape the whirlie birds. Went up there with crocs on which was an ignorant decision on the way up to the vents I started sliding back and stopped just shy of the edge of the house. kicked off the crocs and did the job barefoot. I won't get up there anymore.

Usually if I am doing something that requires a ladder outside I just pull the side by side up and climb up on the roof of it.

I'm 57 years old. I have always had a fear of heights. I used to be able to climb ladders with no problem but now not so much. I can get on the step ladder and a 6 foot ladder but anything higher than that is a "talk myself into it and don't look down" affair. I also had a knee replacement last year and my balance has not come back. No ladders, no heights. Just not doing it.

Don’t you manage a restaurant?

I may be thinking of someone else.

You work nights?

You people run together.

I am 61 and I still climb up my little giant fully extended. It helps that it has rectangular pegs. I do get dizzier, but those gutters ain't cleaning themselves.

It could just be the way you bend your neck while on the ladder. The carotid arteries have a lot to do with balance issues in geriatrics.

I once saw a 60+ year old project manager fully extend a widowmaker scissor lift (45’), then pop open a 10’ ladder and climb up. All without being harnessed.

Dumbest shite ever, but he probably thinks you’re all a bunch of pussies.

I'm OK going up, but for some reason, my knees start to shake when I'm descending.
