That’s why you shouldn’t have a Twitter account, that platform is a cesspool. All social media is really, but Twitter is in a league of its own. I know Elon now owns it and maybe he can turn it around but to me it’s become too big a monster to control and should be just shut down along with other platforms.

FWIW this showed up in my Twitter feed today, too. But I’m admittedly pretty fricked up so I’m not sure which side that’s an argument for in this thread.

So…apparently my twitter/X account…doesn’t exist anymore? I tried using my email and phone number to authenticate and nothing happened.
So I created a new account. I scroll through about 20 tweets and I see:
-clip of a man standing behind a girl with his hand in her pants in a parking lot, then he pulls it out for her to smell
-clip of what is apparently some dude watching a video of a silhouette of his girl being doggy styled by another man
- video of a man talking to a woman sitting down, he then grabs her by the hair and drags her ten feet into a pool
-video of a man getting shot by someone wearing a ski mask.
Brand new account so this is just what it gives me right off the bat. I feel like my dad or something but Christ it’s a straight up wasteland. Deactivated my account and deleted this nonsense.

Some people just come from dads who parent like drill instructors. My dad beat the ever living shite out of me all the time from when I was 10 all the way to 18. It made me realize that in this world, you have to stand up for yourself when no one else can. I was a pissed off kid all throughout high school and I had a bad temper because of the way my dad abused me.

That kind of stuff needs to be shown to people. It forces people to realize that the world isn’t this bubbly, happy flowery place where there’s no violence. It’s a mean and nasty place where bad things will always happen due to humans having a propensity to violence. People need to man up and accept that.

Twitter algo works by paying attention to what tweets you stop on. If you stop on every murder tweet, you’ll get a ton of murder tweets. If you stop on wholesome videos, your feed will be filled with wholesome videos.
