A few years ago I had salmonella poisoning from not washing my avocados. I assumed that since I was eating the inside part it was ok. I was wrong. It was miserable. 3 days of diarrhea and vomiting every 1-3 hours. arse raw from wiping, exhausted, dehydrated. Only able to drink Gatorade or Pedialyte. couldn't eat anything. I don't wish that shite on anyone. Well, maybe my ew-wife. Needless to say I thoroughly wash any fruit or vegetable now before I eat it. The silver lining was that I lost about 10 lbs in 3 days which was nice because I was just starting a keto diet at the time (hence the avocados) and that was a good jumpstart. Put me in ketosis pretty quick and I lost 25 lbs in a month.

Ate Chinese in Pitt last year. Woke up at 1am and proceeded to simultaneously vomit and diarrhea for the next 7 hours until my gut had nothing left to give.
I thought I was going to die.

Must have been Staph. Pretty much over it now. I think I got some bad coleslaw at the BBQ joint we ate at last night. The kick in the backside: it was my B-Day dinner...

it’s usually hard to pinpoint the culprit since , if you look it up- apparently food poisoning can hit anywhere from 6 hours until 24 hours later..
This is one of the many reasons I'd hate to own a restaurant. People always saying they got food poisoning at some place.
No, you didn't. You just eat like shite and one of the shitty things you ate upset your weak-arse stomach.

Happy Belated Birthday and enjoy the bonus pounds shed from getting food poisoning.

You never know how full of shite you are until you have had food poisoning.
I had it once about 30 years ago and it’s something I will never forget. I was sleeping on the bathroom floor for two days.
Since then I can’t count how many times I’ve told someone “you don’t have food poisoning because if you did you wouldn’t be outside of the bathroom right now”

Not much to do other than white knuckle through and try to get in some Gatorade with small sips (bc you’ll throw that right back up too if you get greedy)

I got it for the first time in my life in my late 40s. I was able to get about seven minutes of sleep during each round of vomiting into the kitchen sink after destroying the toilet. Also two days. It was the onion issue with McDonalds.

Cleans out the system and gets rid of a few pounds. And you can use that silverlining bs to wipe your butt. Best of both worlds.

I drank out of a moldy Camelbak before and during an enduro (dirt bike race). 45 min into the race I'm throwing up in my helmet. Could not stop throwing up/dry heaving the entire 5 hour ride home. BTW Zofram is a miracle drug as it totally knocks out the nausea and vomiting.

Been there. Wished someone would just shoot my arse and get it over with.

Three times. It’s hard to believe how bad your stomach wants the bad stuff out and what lengths it will go to do so. It doesn’t care if the contortions you endure are fatal or not.

Salmonella is much worse than rampant runs. If not eliminated promptly with the appropriate antibiotics it can go chronic and set up a suitable environment in the colon for overproliferation of H2S-producing bacteria, which have been linked to IBD and potentially colorectal cancer. Too much H2S can disintegrate the bowel mucosa, setting up the perfect environment for these diseases.

Only had it once and that was on my way back from London. Couldn't vomit until we were close to landing in new orleans
