Inflation is directly related to this administration and the socialists who voted for it.

Wow.

Businesses pass the cost increase of their goods to the consumer via raising their prices?

Only if the selling price increase moved in parallel with the cost increases. This is price gouging.

For my 2015 Camry, I can get them cheap Rain-X blades from Walmart for about $10 each. Michelin are about $15.

True. When someone doesn’t understand charts and context but decides to espouse their thoughts on them anyway, it’s best to think that they’re a retard unless they prove otherwise.

Food costs have only just started to rise. Wait until the full effect of Russia-Ukraine war , Russian sanctions hit the consumer. Global wheat production has taken a huge hit.

Also, Russia was a huge producer of farming inputs. There are places that can’t grow unless it is heavily fertilized. With sanctions on Russian exports, some semi arable areas will not be able to grow food.

I’ll explain it this way.

Net income increases aren’t necessarily the best way to look at these kinds of things when it comes to a retailer.

The measure to look at for a company that is manipulating their mark up to gain more of a profit would be their gross profit.

This is Net revenue - cost of goods sold.

Retailers usually stay consistent with their gross profit percentage annually. That is, unless they’re changing their mark up or hiding cash under the table, in some cases.

When the IRS audits a retailer, one thing they do is check this gross profit percentage to see if there are any large changes from prior years.

I haven’t read the article, but from what the thread shows, things could be misleading.

When you’re using a net income increase, you aren’t taking in other factors.

The company could’ve laid off a ton of employees, had a large capital gain increase on the year, like a sale of a sector, or other things that would decrease cost or increase revenue.

Now, seeing the increase of net income across multiple businesses in the same industry does make things a little ironic.

I’d be curious to see their gross profit percentages, because it would show the true manipulation.
