You could have your wife get an ATP license way cheaper than the cost to upgrade to a plane with auto land.

Relax and enjoy the ride, assuming the boss in the left seat is a competent pilot. In my youth, I logged over 5K hours in light twins, but once a month, minimum, spent an hour with an instructor.

Dude,

Don't be so uptight. We bellied in our family's private plane due to a mechanical malfunction when I was a kid. It was no big deal.

Last time we flew together I sat in copilot seat....an alarm started going off on the planes dash when we we 15000 feet up. He yelled "Oh shite". The last thing I want to hear the pilot say is "Oh shite". I nearly shite my pants.

Luckily the alarm was caused by him forgetting to turn the knob to decompress the cabin. After he turned the knob, the alarm went off a few seconds later.

Flying as a passenger in the copilot seat I looked over at the pilot and saw he was doubled over. He was looking at a chart spread out at his feet but for a second I had sheer panic as I thought he was dead or passed out.

Man, frick ALL of that. I'm a nervous wreck on commercial airlines. I can't imagine how bad I would be on a small plane or in scenarios like that.

It gives me anxiety just reading that kind of shite.

I’d only do it with a parachute, what if he had a heart attack mid flight.... you never know.

I’ve done prop plane from Shreveport to Buffalo river in high school, didn’t bother me. We took a seaplane from Victoria Canada from Seattle. I was a little worried when the pilot on the way back looked like he was 16 years old but we survived

The second engine is not there to serve as a spare, it is needed to keep the plane in the air when loaded. Two engines mean you now have twice the chance of a engine failure, and a lot of light twin engine planes have poor single engine performance. A friend of mine as always said the second engine is there to fly you to the scence of the crash.

Do some reading on aeronautics. The more you understand the physics the less it scares you.

light twins don't even have to demonstrate much, if any single engine performance when applying for certification

Six double martinis prior to takeoff and all will be fine.

The conquest is a big step up from a basic single engine plane. It has twin turbine engines and is super fast and reliable. Its a highly sought after twin these days.
