I have about 50 ppl over for my boil every year and all 150#s and fixins always goes down, so average at least 3#/person is my rule. Some eat more, some eat less of course. 175# would probably all be eaten if I up'd it to that.

I feel like some people are only half-assing their boil if they don't use small red potatoes and mushrooms.

That’s a great way to get stabbed.

Thanks but I've been transferred to Houston (again) so I'm not flying crawfish anymore but I will let my friends in CO know.

One thing to keep in mind you need to adjust your boiling times for the elevation in the mountains.

I knew a couple of coonasses that ran traps in Harvey reservoir during summer. Crawfish were nice size but with slightly bigger pincers than what we get down south.

Hell my woman isn't even from the US and she can take down a crawfish in 15 seconds in this, her first crawfish season.

I go a step further than just sucking the head, I stick my finger in the head and dig as deep as I can and clean that fricker out.

You didn't say that though.

You said

about 20 seconds per crawfish and that pinching tails and sucking heads.

1.5-2lbs. I went to a crawfish boil in Birmingham before, they were serving out onto styrofoam plates. I just took a stack of them.

go ahead and wait til After Easter and you'll pay less(even though I imagine what you're doing will still be expensive as F) and they're less likely to die in transit late in season. Plus size should be peaking

You won’t need more than 40 pounds
I have a buddy up here who does this every year and it is no contest who is gonna eat the lions share of the boil- me.

90% of the guests are pretty freaked out about the whole affair.

I do a bunch of boils for different groups in Dallas, and have learned over the years to never budget for more than 1-2 lbs per person outside of louisiana.

I do 5 lbs in less than 4 minutes.(when peeling for someone)

But I repeat...just order 40 lbs and stop pinching pennies. The extra tails are the best part

You typically want to order 5lbs per eater.
