I'll be nice, but is it really relevant if you get a few pounds too much? You're flying in crawfish! Not much cost difference between 30 and 40 pounds. Maybe a whole $40. I lol'd when I read this thinking you were having 25+ people...but 6? Come on man
Just buy extra and jeep the peeled tails for an etoufee later

Stop everything you're doing. Rethink the whole process. Remake the standard crawfish boil into an artisanal, curated, hipster event. Begin a social media campaign featuring the cliche bearded thin guys serving plates of "heirloom", "farm to table" sides and "wild caught" crawfish carefully paired with the latest super bitter IPA du jour. You could sell this crap for $50/lb if done right.

I did a boil in St. Louis 5 or 6 Year’s ago. People were coming up and saying “give me like 10”. They were talking about 10 crawfish not 10 lbs. and they didn’t come back for more. As we were sitting down peeling leftovers somebody came up and grabbed the bowl I was filling up and said “oh look the pre peeled ones” and started passing them around. I quit after that

I took a customer to eat crawfish last year. She's from Utah and had never had them. I ordered 3 lbs for her and she ate it all. It took her just under an hour to peel and eat 3lbs.

You don’t need more than a sack for that group.

It depends on whether you peel them for them or you make them peel the crawfish themselves.

Honestly, women who did not grow up eating them will only eat a handful...men will eat a pound or so to be nice and then just give up. I would do the following:
You and your wife - 5# each
women guests - 1# each
men guests - 2# each
So, I would try to get about 20# in total.
another option....If I remember correctly, the Denver alumni association has a big crawfish boil in the spring where, I believe, you can buy them by the pound. take everyone to that and be done with it.
also may be able to get them by the pound at Bayou Bob's, but I can't remember that.

how many pounds does a typical non-Cajun eat?
With or without a fork & knife?
Witnessed this in person in a Dallas restaurant

1 lb - Non-Cajun (West Coast/Yankee)
3lbs - Southerner
5lbs+ - La. / Cajun

this has been my experience as well...if you didn't grow up with it, it is just kind of a novelty.

Just purely out curiosity, what sort of price per pound does one pay to get these majestic aquatic creatures airborne?
It only cost $1.00 per lb delivered to your doorstep. That includes shipping and packaging.

The wife is from Lake Charles and loves crawfish. Is a piss poor peeler though. She just hates doing it. I do it for her because I love the woman. She gets 5lbs peeled out every boil. I do hers first and it takes me about 15-20 minutes if the shells aren't hard.

damn, man...that is about the nicest thing I have ever heard! I hope she "rewards" you for this gesture.

I do it to avoid the whining and complaining for an hour straight. It makes her happy and makes her look like a queen to all the other cajun prima donnas. I suck the heads and peel them out while drinking beer.
I always prefer the second sack anyway.
