I know, it happened several years ago and that's what caused the tv air waves in Baton Rouge and NOLA to explode with Just one call ads.

lol

These attorneys wouldn't have jobs without 'big government regulations", or laws.

Florida was already doing great. This is going to put them into overdrive mode. I am so happy Florida is firmly conservative.

Glad to see he signed off. As a Floridian I am pleased with this. I personally know two PI attorneys and they are ticked off about it. But they have been milking the system for decades and they needed to be reigned in.

So which firm do you work for? Are you a bus stop bench type of lawyer or a billboard near the ghetto lawyer?

Physical media is for boomers or PI firms with a 10k/mo budget

I don't pay for any ads of any kind.

Venue matters more these days than the state laws. If you’re in a blue county with big verdicts insurance will pay. This will matter more in places like the Panhandle or the wealthy counties down south.

A good general rule but shite is getting weird out there.

A buddy just got 2 two hundred million verdicts in fricking Bossier Parish. Think they had a 100 and tried to settle for 10.

I would bet that for every frivolous law suit filed in the US there are 10 people damaged due to the negligence of others who are never made whole. It ain't as easy as TV commercials make it sound...if someone is seriously damaged they have a long hard row to hoe to be compensated in any manner. Being made whole is almost out of the question.

Personal injury firms did this to themselves. I'm excited to see most of the PI firms eventually go away.

I have a hatred for PI attorneys. As a small business owner in La, I live in fear of accidents. We had a truck bump into a parked car, on camera, barely visible on film and damage to car was the buick emblem was knocked off.

Prior to end of day they had a lawyer and insurance paid them 15k for the car and the 'injury'

I cant imagine what it would be if someone was actually hurt.

I would bet its just the opposite. For every legitimate lawsuit filed, there are 10 that are frivolous, inflated, padded, or doctor or lawyer driven which invites extra scrutiny on legitimate claims, and drives up the cost of virtually everything for everyone.

It won’t happen in LA ever. Our current governor is a PI attorney and the biggest NIL name is Gordon.

Well Louisiana already has comparative fault, so there's that...

I used to laugh at all you people who hate on PI attorneys and hope you get in an accident and get injured just so you can see how the insurance companies treat you and why PI attorneys have jobs. Then I got t-boned myself, and I wouldn't wish that pain and suffering on anyone.

Good. Too bad Louisiana won’t follow. It would be wonderful if the driver who cuts you off and slams on their brakes can be found 1/2 culpable, even better, 100% culpable. And win the cross-claim.

We've had this little concept of comparative fault in LA for a looooong time. If you can convince the trier of fact that a plaintiff suing is 80% at fault, then that plaintiff can only collect 20% of his damages. Use any percentage you want and it's the same.

I dont think anyone is discussing the huge claims paid from serious accidents. I do think that those with serious accidents have more bullshite than necessary because of the huge numbers of goof ball crap claims they get from every fender bender.

Went back to contributory from comparative. So defendant liable for 51% only pays 51%. Plaintiff liable for 51% gets zero.

Ahh makes sense. I was genuinely curious.

Most of us probably aren't trying to sue someone's insurance company for a "soft tissue damage" from a 5 mph fender bender

I wish we could see the data on demographics of PI lawsuits. Plaintiffs, Defendants, awards etc.
