Not to diminish his survival but should that really be described as “middle of the ocean?” The water depth there appears to be about 25 feet deep if it is resting on its stern. Or is is just buoyant and floating in a couple hundred feet of water?

Water that blue is deep. And any distance farther than you can swim is bad.

someone not expecting their boat to go under water. Also, it was probably pretty cold.

The boat is not touching the bottom of the sea....

Same for any depth you can't bounce off the bottom.

Blue jeans are actually a great idea. You can make a makeshift life preserver from them.

When you’re alone at sea, holding on to the one part of your boat that’s floating, not knowing if/when it’s gonna sink, wondering how this will end, for about 2 days (nights would SUCK!), 86 miles out... Honestly, I don’t care if you’re 10 miles out...

YES, YOU’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING OCEAN!!! God decided it wasn’t his time, but the man needs to go buy a lottery ticket!!!

Bless him and his loved ones!! Happy ending!!

When I worked offshore I would tell my grandma doesnt matter if its 7' or 700' once its over your head its deep. She was always worried about me drowning - never did tell her all the crazy stuff I did duck hunting out of Venice and Wax - thats where I could have drowned ....
