Float Riders...Loud Music On Floats

I know I sound old when I say this.
What is so special about having loud music and subs cranked to the max to ride to?
Some floats in Houma have ridiculous sound systems that you can hear about 3 blocks away.
I feel sorry for some of those float riders, they must be deaf for a few days after the parade.

They’re probably using ear plugs. And it’s because it makes the whole parade much more fun.
You ever seen a parade with no music and dancing? shite is depressing.

Unless you're right next to the speaker it's really not that bad.
If you are though, you better be wearing earplugs. You're not hearing anything over the music either way.

I think the OP is asking why the music has to be set to the level of a nuclear explosion

Douchey firefighters can’t attack you if the music is too loud for them to get too close

My float plays Scenes from an Italian Restaurant on repeat.

If it's too loud, you're too old.

Why do you believe that the only alternative to loud music is no music?

Apparently it's so you cant hear the float tires approaching your blindside.

it's not uncommon for float riders to wear ear plugs

Float I use to ride on has about $15,000 in their sound system. Its loud..... I use to wear ear plugs to ride. Nothing like hearing Back That Azz Up turning onto Park and seeing people 8-10 deep.

On my float I have a speaker about a foot from my ear. I am bringing ear plugs next year.

So people 3 blocks away can dance. Announce your presence with authority

Gotta drown out the generator!!

When I was a kid there was a marching band in front of every float for the most part.
Not as many band’s per parade nowadays because they are spread too thin between all of the parades.
If the floats didn’t play there would only be the idiots on the side of the road with their systems.
You can’t beat a good marching band for a parade though.

Music adds to the party atmosphere. Gotta have it loud to hear over the tractors, generators and people screaming.

Trust by Prince on full blast for miles

Thankfully we banned loud music in our neighborhood.

Actually, the real reason (at least in Orleans Parish) is there’s a new ordinance that puts a cap on how many marching units can be in one parade, in order to speed up these parades and reduce some NOPD overtime pay.
