That's all you got huh? You people amaze me.
From this
to this (in 3 days)
Don't care if was a Bridge or dirt road. The point is that in three days they have it functioning again. How long would that take to rebuild in LA, Miss, Alabama? NOT THREE DAYS.

Amazing what can happen when bureaucrats get out of the way

To be fair. They got the Twin Spans back open really quick after Katrina.

Desantis might be the most competent politician I’ve ever seen

The twin span had over 40% damage after Katrina on an almost 6 mile bridge and they had it back open in 40 days. That was a pretty remarkable achievement
I came here just to bring this up. Although the temp bridge was kinda shady, they had it operational rather quickly.

Twin Span is also a Federal Interstate. This was bridge to a community.

Man I remeber working in Bioloxi, living in Baton Rouge and having a long term hotel in Mobile at that time. Being to Nola from Biloxi to 3-4 hours.
Drive over the highway 11 bridge. Show paperwork at check points. In nola east some sections you had to switch to the other side through the median because of water. Getting that bridge open right when the city was opened back without check points was really nice.

How long did it take them to fix the bridge by Fred’s in Tigerland ?
The little shitty bridge in Lakeland (by New Roads) has been out for around six months.

quote:the majority of the work was the road, but if you look at the last pic in the OP, you can definitely see that a large piece of the first section of the bridge over water is badly damaged (gone actually). So, no the bridge was not fine by any means.
The bridge was fine. They rebuilt the road leading up to it.
They weren't repairing the entire span, or much of it at all, but it's impressive as hell to get what needed to be repaired done in 3 days.

It was impressive as well, but it was the feds. And they had enough bad press in the immediate aftermath after Katrina that they needed a win and that was a high profile way to hain some confidence back.
The people are comparing FL DOT to LA DOT and I think it's more than fair to say FL is much better at maintaining their roads.

This isn't exactly accurate. The East bound side was open in 40 days and there was not a lot of damage to it. The west bound was a mess and that took forever to finish.

They made it passable to get from point a to point b. It was amazing considering the conditions of the bridge. Not sure why you are critical of it.

Not critical of the work. Critical of the inaccuracy of your statement. What Florida did was a lot more impressive.

That would take Louisiana 3 years to fix minimum
2 years of studies
1 year of construction
And that’s if the contractor doesn’t go bankrupt

This reminds me of Trump.
Archives from the New York Times, before OMB syndrome.

Donald J. Trump refurbished the Central Park -skating rink two and a half months ahead of his own speedy six-month schedule and $750,000 below his own projected $3 million budget, having taken over the project after the city spent six years and $12 million unsuccessfully trying to get the job done.
''He built the most fabulous rink I have ever seen,'' said Vera Banchet, watching her daughter skate. ''
