First world problem of the day

Possibly unpopular opinion. Smart cruise control… it sucks. Constantly speeding up and braking. Probably wears your car out worse than just driving regular. And also it has to be worse on gas mileage. And not being able to turn it off and use regular cruise control is stupid.

I inadvertently made my thermos for the duck blind this morning with regular coffee. No Bailey's. No Bourbon. It was brutal.

If you're constantly speeding up and breaking, you're using it in situations it's not intended to be used for, like in city travel. It's not automated driving. It's intended to replace normal cruise control usage on highways/interstate. If you're still somehow constantly speeding up and breaking, I have no idea what you're doing.
I will never own another car that doesn't have adaptive cruise control, at a minimum. It's a complete deal breaker for me.

I don’t like it. I end up slowing down inadvertently because I forget about that “feature” and it gradually slows me down enough I don’t notice for a while and then it hits me.

Could not get my phone to connect to my Bluetooth in my car then forgot my pass to get through the guard gate where I work.

My wife's car has smart cruise. However, if you hold the on button for the cruise control for 2 seconds when turning it on it will revert to normal cruise control.

Smart cruise isn’t meant to be used in situations that would require it to constantly speed up or down. I’ve also never heard of a smart cruise that can’t be turned off to just use regular cruise.
My smart cruise will all but drive itself, safely changing lanes well in advance of upcoming slower traffic for passing, adjusting speeds as limit changes, etc and even that will turn off automatically if it detects my eyes leaving the road in front of me for a certain period of time. I can also bypass it and just use regular cruise.
