My baby girl returned to in-person classes yesterday and I really couldn't believe what I was seeing. She's a sophomore in HS so everyone at her school is well aware of what's going on in the world right now.

I saw kids congregating everywhere with maybe 10% wearing masks. I saw the AD leaning into cars, maskless, to talk to folks in the car line. Daughter reported none of her teachers but one were wearing a mask. Desks aren't separated out to accomodate 6' social distancing. The varsity football team is already in quarantine because of a positive on the team.

This school may stay open for 2 weeks, if they're lucky. I appreciate Gov. Kemp and my conservative arse county for not even fricking TRYING to at least PRETEND they give a frick about not only containing the any potential spread but also neglecting to take precautionary measures to try to keep the school open for the year.

Oh, and a heads up for you guys whose kids haven't started school yet....because no one wants to put their kids on buses, the traffic to get on campus was fricking insane. The school is 10 minutes from my house and it took me an hour to pick her up and get back home yesterday afternoon.

The people in charge are absolutely clueless. Yuge clusterfrick, all around.

My Son starts Next week Friday... They split up the classes start day - first week, 1/5 on Monday, 1/5 on Tues... etc, then all for every day after...

Especting nothing short of a total fustercluck.

I plan on switching her over to virtual. I REALLY don't want to because she needs to socialize and she also does much better with in-person instruction. That said, apparently there's a waiting list for virtual. This is a class 7A school in GA, so it's large.

We're going to have a bunch of kids all fricked up from this thing...affects which could reverberate for the next decade as even our youngest school aged children fail to get the class time and education they need which will carry over from grade to grade to grade.

Europe has it right by sending kids back to school. I think you should follow what they are doing and their reasoning for doing so. A lot of people in the US are blinded by the media.
