(CBS/CNN) - Two cousins who say they are in love with each other have created an online petition calling for the state of Utah to allow them to get legally married. "My first cousin and I have been in love with each other our whole lives but we are prohibited from marrying in the state of Utah where we live," Angela Peang writes in the petition. "We believe that the law is outdated and it needs to be changed so that we can socially legitimize our love."

The couple's goal is to get 1,000 signatures; as of Wednesday morning, about 75 have signed on. Peang told CBS News she's loved her cousin, Michael Lee, since she was in second grade. Peang's father is the oldest of 12 children; his sister, the fifth child in that family, is Lee's mother.
"We just always played a lot," Peang remembered of her childhood interactions with Lee. "We went into a closet and we were kissing and dancing together. It just felt really natural."
"He told my mom he was going to marry me," Peang said. Her mom told Michael they couldn't get married but they could be friends. Each time they saw each other at family functions the connection between them stayed strong. The cousins were caught kissing once by family members, Peang remembered. "We got in trouble," she said. "After that we were kind of kept apart."

I thought this was normal shite in Utah? Dudes marrying 8, 9 women, has a bunch of kids, half brothers and sisters getting married and shite.

First cousins that had children together resulting in birth defects was not really that common, and with genetic testing today that can more accurately assess risk the law is outdated. As for the social stigma a lot of people today grow up without even meeting a first cousin. I have a couple I have not seen in 55 years, would not know them if they sat down next to me.

Their kids will be less fricked up than that bearded lady who got pregnant

They should just move to Alabama. They would be normal.

True, statistically there is no reason concerning birth defects. If your worried about about being gross, thats another subject.

Figs and lesbos can get married, so at least these 2 are normal folks that can have children that can properly have children the way it was intended.
I highly doubt there is a single person on this board that doesnt have a little family mix in there gene pool.
This will end up at the supreme court. Anyone that supported gays the right to marry, should be supporting this or proves their hypocrisy.

I'd support both. It's two consenting adults.

It isn't bad in a one-off case, but spend a few centuries fricking your cousins and look at the gene pool.
