Just wanted to thank everyone on here. A few months ago I posted asking for prayers on our first ultrasound after we had a miscarriage. All has gone well since then and my wife is scheduled for an induction this morning for our first child. Ready to embark on the best and most important job of my life. Any and all pointers appreciated!
Amazing man. Congrats! A doctor recently told me that over 50% of women who get a positive pregnancy test lose the baby. The gift of live is such a miracle and should be aways celebrated as such!

We did some sleep training and she’s been sleeping 8hrs at 3mths old and 10-12hrs a night ever since then.
This is one of the best things my wife and I did with our daughter. We didn't start it until she was about 5-6 months old and the first 3-4 nights were terrible for my wife, she just couldn't stand to hear her baby crying herself to sleep.
But after the initial frustrations it's definitely worth it. She sleeps from 7:30 to 6:30 everyday now.

there is not another feeling in the world anywhere close to that feeling you get when you see that child for the first time.
it's the one moment in life where you truly know and feel unconditional love.

you will screw up. it's unavoidable and it will happen.
best advice I can give is to do the best you can do and do it your way.
not every kid is the same. so what worked for your mom raising you may not work for you raising your kid.
and what works for this kid may not work for your next one.
there is not "instruction manual" you got to figure it out.
and you'll be surprised how fast you and mom do figure it out.

Be ready for your world to turn upside down. Things that you never imagined would be funny will crack you up. Things you never thought would bother you will turn you into a blubbering pile of jelly.
and that kid will somehow swing you to both of these extremes in the blink of an eye.
you go from:
"awe! that's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life"
to
"get back here you little bastard so I can wring your neck!"
in an instant.

My first just turned 6 months. Still hard to believe.
Dance parties are the best! Also, Gregorian chant is a cheat code and helps us get her to sleep!

As soon as you obtain all the required "legal" documents, open a college savings account in the baby's name & make it a mthly regular payment. And don't use the money for daily life-needs. Lesson learned here.

only one book worth reading: Mom's on call.
staple them schedules everywhere and drill em in.
eat, diaper, sleep, diaper, repeat. for like 2-3 months.
didn't "click" for me w/ my first one for 3 months. when they can realize you and smile, I reckon.
be the gopher. Tell wife to clear her throat for a while. buy more burp cloths and onesies and bibs.
godspeed brother.

We’re still here! They just broke her water. Been a 17 hour day so far and going to hopefully not be too long of a night. She’s kicking arse though! (No pics)

First 6 to 8 weeks are tough and will test you and your wife. It’s short term and goes by quick, so just be there to help each other.
This only seems tough on #1….a toddler quickly makes you realize how easy the newborn stage is

Do not let the kid sleep in your bed.

My sincerest congratulations. Do yourself a long term favor......put yourself on call at least 3 nights exclusively a week to feed the baby and let your wife sleep
