Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Wednesday that there is not enough money available for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to meet the needs of the communities affected by Hurricane Helene, which has killed more than 160 people.

The funding shortfall has come under scrutiny at a time when at least $640 million in FEMA funding is being spent on assisting communities across the country dealing with an influx of migrants.

There is no excuse to be out of funds for the first major hurricane of the season. Stop funding illegals immediately

That motherfricker never misses an opportunity to kick sand in the faces of the American taxpayer with that smug look on his face. The only face in Washington more punchable is Peter Strzok's.

You misspelled ILLEGALS.
Seriously, don’t use their woke terminology.

Seems odd to be tapped out just two days into the fiscal year.

There are many more billions in the budget that are going to those invading our nation. Very few for East Palestine, Maui, or NC.
We send $1B/month just to keep the Ukraine govt going. For that amount we could totally rebuild Maui, East Palestine, and NC in the span of one year.
Your tax dollars are funding the invasion of your nation while your people suffer. I have never seen a federal government with such contempt and disdain for its own people as our current government. Both parties are responsible for this. It's a bipartisan betrayal.

Don't kid yourself. If this hurricane had devastated NYC or Cali, there would be funding in spades.

FEMA being out of money and not being able to properly help US citizens in times of need from disasters is fantastic news to left wing and moderate voters

A LARGE portion of Americans have no problem at all with this.
Why have a country if borders don’t exist?
What claim to loyalty does such a place have?

Why is it UnAmerican to secure our borders?

Ever so often the people have to figure out that they're just pawns in the game.

Please explain. No disagreement…. Just can’t wrap my head around how or why it would be advantageous for the left to have this happen.

This close to the election, the Biden Administration better find the money. This story will only grow; it's already peaking through the media's wall. The scale of the devastation might be worse than Katrina's.
If Americans start dying in the aftermath because of a lack of assistance from the Federal Government. It will guarantee Trump wins. It won't sway the hard-core liberal wing, but it damn sure will move the moderates towards Trump.

Remember when they didn’t have money for the border wall either? Amazing how they can come up with money for things they want like Ukraine.

That's criminal. Our dough going to everyone except citizens in need.
The MSM commie media are going to bury this info with the bogus Trump lawsuit.

Since most of damage was flooding the insurance companies are off hook as well
Those poor people in nc and Tenn are about to find out how screwed they are
Amazing you have to pay for insurance and a separate flood policy and neither will be there to help you
