Submitted my goodwood hardware receipt and got rejected saying I didn't provide sufficient documentation. It's got my name, the date, the name of the store, the price I paid, and even my credit card number. Unbelievable.

You are immediately denied if you have insurance.
Claim as loss of use through insurance. If that gets denied then attempt a reimbursement through fema.

I never found any link to where i can actually claim the generator online. I just uploaded my receipt to their webpage so hopefully thats all i need to do

I received my generator one. I faxed in my receipt with all my info. It took about two weeks before anything showed up on their website. And then when it did show up on their website it showed pending for about a week and a half and then all of a sudden it said eligible. I received the 800 about three days after that in my account

We were told my multiple fema reps that because we said we had insurance, everything except the $500 will be denied until webs end them our insurance claim report.
Adjuster fir insurance came 3 and a half weeks ago. Still no report. So we are just waiting.

I was denied, and I:
Live in BR
Lost power
bought generator
filed and submitted my receipt
I've had a FEMA account since Gustav.
I mentioned it to the FEMA folks at the entrance of Home Depot in Zachary the other day, they told me I needed to have filed an insurance claim and been denied.

Federal taxpayer funds going to generators and chainsaws which are normal homeowner items.

All,
I was reimbursed the full $800 a couple of days ago.
To get a faster response from FEMA, Fax them your receipt and a letter stating what medical necessity it was for. I stated my mother needed her CPAP machine powered on(I provided her sleep apnea diagnosis as well). Be sure to include your FEMA registration ID and name on the letter and receipt.
I originally uploaded all on the site, but it was slow as shite getting any type of response.
Supposedly, it HAS to be a medical necessity.

$800 doesn't seem worth filing an insurance claim, and then having these dicey FEMA inspectors at your house + dealing with all that bullshite.
Let me guess, they're all from out of state, work for companies nobody has ever heard of, and smell like cigarettes?

This was the case on past storms, but not Ida. Only requirement was you lost power, be in an affected parish and purchase it between certain dates.

Interesting. I had read somewhere early on that for the generator it had to be a medical necessity (I already had one anyway so it didn't matter). I also read that for the chain saw it had to be that you needed it to clear trees to get into your house.

I got paid for the generator, chainsaw and an extra $300 for mucking out the flooded garage. Wasn't expecting that.

Who needs big brother to buy a generator for them? People love some handouts.

Right? I have 2 generators and 2 chainsaws because I am prepared. Every adult should have had a generator and saw because you live in hurricane areas.
The hypocrisy knows no bounds. Imagine the uproar if Californians got federal handouts after an earthquake. "Let it fall into the ocean!!!"
Suckling on that gubment teat.
