They should check out the Clinton Foundation.

Hell St Jude is kinda bad. A huge part of their budget goes to marketing their charity. Pretty much every city larger than 500000 people or so has a dedicated St Jude field office. I know the girl who runs one of them, she makes 6 figures.

That "raise awareness" part is what is key here. People donate to charities thinking "they are going to heal that kid" or "they are going to find a cure" but that isn't what is happening. They are "raising awareness" by holding lots of parties and trips and driving around a corporate leased luxury car and other self-serving uses of donated money. CHARITIES ARE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY SCAMS run by people who prey on the good will of others.
Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation? Primarily an "awareness" charity. People are always shocked when I tell them that most of the millions upon millions raised goes towards programs other than finding a cure.

It's because of his illness but yes, he is 16.

And which part was the bad part?

yeah, it's like the campaigns "against" diseases. Pretty much everyone is against diseases.

Where is that report from a few years ago listing the worst charities, as far as monies going to the proper cause?
Some were at 0% or near that.
Appalling.

I think he meant more along the lines of how people cater to him and act around him, it makes it seem like he’s some little kid. I would have never guessed he was 16

A lot of this is correct. Most people want to donate for selfish reasons, i.e. to feel better about themselves because they are giving money to good causes, instead of actually getting involved.

Wasn't the Chairwoman (Or President) of Susan G Komen Foundation making like $700K/year or somesuch?

Now they should start looking into all the pro athletes that set up charities to funnel money to their entourage and their family.

Takes money to raise money.

Not sure why this would be surprising. Organizations of that size need full time employees that can manage large companies. You have to pay those people a salary that can provide a living or no one will want to do it long term. Being non-profit doesn’t mean you can’t make a living working there.

I work for a company that pimps this kid out pretty hard and I have always felt it is very wrong
The kid is 16 years old. The reason people find him so “cute and fun” is because he is a normal 16 year old in the body of an 8 year old. I feel like he gets treated like a circus animal

I've always thought the kid's dad was a little off.

It is of no fault of the kid, but the entirety of how LSU, the saints, and many other brands/companies have promoted him just has felt off to me

I grew up with the dad. Not saying he's a bad guy but not surprised one bit.

Unfortunately most charities are scams. People suck

Although they have done a lot to curb the exuberant spending, they are still a crap organization. As a veteran, I will not donate money to a organization which spends millions on retreats/marketing instead of their mission.

Yeah. Someone making $100k at a major charity like St. Jude will need to be bringing in $2 to $5M a year...or they’ll be shown the door.
These are essentially high performing sales people who could work in the private sector, and their wages need to remain competitive. Otherwise you end up with a revolving door of fundraisers.
