Federal Judge has had about enough of the Archdiocese of NOLA bankruptcy case

Seems like she is threating to toss the case.

Archdiocese has spent $41 Million to date that would be flushed if an agreement can't be reached.
Look, I can't imagine what it must be like to have been raped by a priest. I can't imagine any amount money can make that pain any easier to deal with.
What bothers me is this... the people who did these horrible things are long gone. They are not being asked to pay. The people who are being asked to pay are people who had nothing to do with this.
The only way for the victims to get what their attorneys are asing for, is to completely liquidate and shut down the archdiocese, all the churches and affiliated schools, sell off all the property and assets. And if that happens, again you aren't punishing the people who did this. You are hurting people that had nothing to do with this.
Give the victims free mental health access for life. That doesn't cost $2 Million per. Aymond is past age 75 so he should have tendered his resignation by now. Have the new pope accept it. Move on.

In a major development for the second-oldest Catholic diocese in the country, a US bankruptcy judge has ordered the Archdiocese of New Orleans to appear in court this June and show why its five-year-old bankruptcy case should not be dismissed.
Judge Maredith Grabill’s order suggests little concrete progress has been made since Sept. 13, 2024, when the archdiocese and a committee representing more than 500 clergy abuse claimants filed competing plans for settling the bankruptcy.

If covering it up and silencing victims is having nothing to do with it.

Cardinal Mahoney will be part of Pope Francis' funeral mass and ceremonial casket closing. So, no lessons learned. Victims deserve compensation.

The diocese covered some of them up
I do, however, find it suspicious that a lot of the allegations come out right after a priest dies when he cant defend himself.
I assume most allegations are real but at least some are money grabs

Something tells me the Catholic Church has the money to settle this and also keep the New Orleans properties operating, if they want to.

$41m in legal fees and no settlement after 5 years? Add these scumbag lawyers to the list of abusers.

The institution that the abuse flourished under is being punished.

Perhaps you're the retard if you cannot tell the difference from a statement and a question.

Absolutely not. But you do financially support the ones that did.

The Catholic Church has an absurd amount of wealth to pay from if needed. I don’t see the issue

No I don't financially support pedophiles and rapist.
Do you support them with the taxes you pay?

The diocese today or the diocese 40 years ago?
Like a government, the diocese only gets money from collections.
So you are asking the people who had nothing to do with this to pay up

Oddly enough they don't want to pay for their sins.

The lengths come of y’all will go to make excuses for the Catholic prove exactly why the issue exists in the first place.

Not really
You can’t punish walls and buildings, and the people in charge of that institution are long gone
