I miss going to New Orleans. We use to go at least once a year for a long weekend. There’s so much to see and do, great places to eat, and they even have a good hobby shop where I’ve bought numerous models in the past. I’d go again today if it were safe. But it’s not. Unless something drastically changes, we won’t be going back.

And the smell? The trashy people?
Welcome to 25 or 30 years ago! Place has sucked tremendously, much like the city and parish, for a long time!

Oh they just realized this? Yeah, I prefer days where I DO NOT get shot or stabbed for my wallet. I stopped going to the quarter a long time ago.

It’s a ghetto disguised as a historical landmark. If you walk a couple blocks down the wrong street, you might die.

Can't be fixed without completely removing everyone and then being selective about who you let back in. And that will never happen.
It's not running away. It's sizing up a situation and understanding the reality. There's a certain portion of the population in NO that have problems that go far beyond what meets the eye. Problems that take centuries of hard work to undo.

For real??!!
Ya think??!!
Up until the crap with the statues started I used to go every chance I could. Now I haven’t been in several years and won’t go back till they get something done.

Even fricking Mexico knows to keep the Cartels out of the hotel zones and away from the Gringos. If the gringos seek out Cartel type activities? Well….
But allowing this rampant crime on Bourbon is like the Cartel putting a soccer moms head on a spike in front of a Hilton.
The Quarter is past the point of needing to be restricted.

Well, that isn't happening anywhere within major Cities.

Most people around here won’t go to New Orleans anymore because of the crime.
Not disagreeing with you.. but ur bio says you live in Baton Rouge.. BR has just as high a per capita crime rate as NOLA, and in some years even higher… that’s just facts .

So, I think that at one point it was about fun and coming out and just having a great time, which is still happening, but I don’t think it’s at the scale that it was," said Chris Ross, who worked in the Quarter for nearly 30 years.
I worked with Chris Ross a lifetime ago… on Bourbon St…. Good dude, but i cant imagine living that Bourbon St life beyond the age of like 20-something.. that type of nonstop party atmosphere can be kinda crazy and wear on you pretty quick .

So true! I was never worried while in the nice parts of Chicago. I won’t go to Nola now because you have to constantly be looking over your shoulder. Be better New Orleans!
New Orleans used to be like this, too. Until the Chicago mob pulled out of the FQ after Katrina.

2012 for me, too. I really hate that, as I loved NOLA and went as much as possible in college and for years after. A friend came in from Houston recently and wanted to meet up down there...I declined. He came to BR instead, but I am really not sure how much better that is, honestly!
