Massachusetts. Boston is a great walking city, has all 4 major sports, great food, nightlife and close to great getaway spots if you need a break from the city.

Tie between Colorado and Utah.
Montana is great but its a little more difficult to get to and everything is farther apart. Vermont is up near the top during the Fall

I loved the couple of years I lived in Colorado. Having said that, I do not miss the winters at all. Sure, there are fun things like skiing to do, but it gets old after a while.
In terms of a more preferred climate, I’m a big fan of East Tennessee and West North Carolina.
West Virginia is such a dump but there are some very pretty scenic drives in the state.

Montana or Wyoming are my tops. Loved living in Wyoming for a summer. Not so sure I’d like the winter though

Northwest California is nice. The deserts in Nevada and Arizona are good, too.

Going to 2nd Arizona. It's a diverse state that has so much to offer. Whether you want the city of Phoenix, amazing scenery in Sedona, or want to see wildlife in the Apache Natl. Forest.

Alaska and Utah, pretty much in that order but it's close

Y'all bag on Louisiana but it ranks in my top 3. The people, the food, the good times I had there. Those few years were some of the best times of my life.
Colorado, especially southern CO. Just beautiful.
Arizona has a lot of desolate wasteland, but also some spectacularly beautiful areas.

Utah, Wyoming, Kansas (plains area), Idaho

Colorado, Utah, and Northern Arizona all win this for me.
People sleep on Sedona and Flagstaff, but those are beautiful areas.

Kansas (plains area)
i drove from Temple, TX to Lincoln, NE last summer and honestly was surprised at some of the beauty of the plains. there was plenty of ugly as well around Wichita, but up around Concordia it reminded me of the Windows XP background.

Florida. Was retired, and living in Virginia. The Villages offered a free trip to visit them; we took it.
Saw it, liked it, and as of about 15 years ago, ain't never looked back.

My answer is southern/coastal New Hampshire...which is about an hour away from Boston.
Yep, the New England area is awesome

Alaska is the prettiest, liked Washington outside of Seattle.
Would probably chose Colorado for everything. I haven’t been to Utah, Kansas, and North Dakota
