If you're going to list a Maison Blanche, I will raise you a Goudchaux's:
That was the main place I liked to shop for clothing, either Cortana or downtown (I think it was on Laurel?). I remember $20 levi's and stuff like that.
Hell, I remember using their mechanic shop at Cortana. It was standalone in the parking lot, think it became a Firestone after awhile.

The first time I got drunk was a friend's older sister worked at butlers shoe store across from K&B at the mall. She ran in bought some Boone's farm and let us drink it in the back of the shoe store before we went to the movies.

Really miss Shoney's breakfast bar. That was always a stop on the way to family vacation growing up.

It wasn't a chain but for the BR folks one of my favorite stores as a kid used to be Steinberg’s Sporting Goods

I have a lot of nostalgic childhood memories about Hoppers, Children’s Palace, K&B, and Sports Unlimited.

Federated if anyone remembers it. That store was the precursor to Best Buy but bungled their management.

My dad used to brings us Joe-Ds fried chicken and tamales from Muffuletta's for dinner. Miss both those places.

I just remember Otasco because there was a guy in my hometown who could fix anything. And it was always "oh yeah, he can fix anything...he used to run the Otasco"

This brings up the fact that there were TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT store chains in LA: Godchaux's ( New Orleans) and Goudchaux's (Baton Rouge). Note the different spellings in the signs:
New Orleans/Metairie:

Baton Rouge:

To make matters even more confusing, in the 1980s Goudchaux's of Baton Rouge bought out Maison Blanche.
