My uncle was a Navy pilot in Korea flying the Grumman F9F Panther fighter-bomber alongside Neil Armstrong, bombing bridges. They were pretty rugged planes. Armstrong once hit a cable strung across a valley and sliced off 6 feet of his wing, but managed to fly the thing back to friendly territory and eject from the plane.

I like the Bearcat and Hellcat. But I love the Herk. I spent a lot of hours as a Navigator. Solid, not flashy, dependable work horse with multiple mission capabilities.

B24 liberator doesn't get the recognition it deserves

A couple I haven't seen mentioned:

The Mig-23 was kind of a bargain basement F-4 but it was seriously fast.

The English Electric Canberra was a beautiful first-generation jet bomber.

On a film project currently where we are renting 4 Corsairs, a skyraider and two bearcats ... and building one full scale Corsair for a crash scene.

I didn't know much about them, so has been interesting to learn.

Skyraider is so ugly. The era of transition from prop planes to jets was a weird one.

I sure would love to see your set with all those warbirds.

I won’t be able to post until it comes out but will certainly be documenting the behind the scenes making of the Corsair build including the full cockpit ... will be able to share that

We are also building a full scale Essex carrier Island ! It’s a massive set

I understand and will be excited when you can share.

Can you give us any more details (plot/storyline) that wouldn’t compromise your work?

Edit:
I’m sure Darth has a better Corsair than mine. I prefer the balsa builds.

Most of the in the air filming will happen on the west coast ... when I’m around them they will mostly be taxiing and Parked. But it’s cool to see how these specialist film these scenes. We have the same team from Top Gun 2.

I just read the story of Devotion. The Chosin Reservoir was brutal.

I wish you the best for this this film. Can’t wait.
